4 Friday 8 th September Breakout Sessions Synopses 1. Syphilis: Management conundrums - Dr Helen Colver Do you sometimes struggle with syphilis? This workshop will help you navigate your way through diagnosis and management of syphilis. Useful to all involved in sexual health. 2. Hypersexuality - Prof Belinda Winder Recognise the condition of hypersexuality and the role it plays in forensic psychology. Hear from an expert how this condition is recognised and managed. 3. Testosterone deficiency - Dr Mervyn Lee Do you understand what is meant by testosterone deficiency, how is it diagnosed and how it can present? This workshop should help to make things clearer and give you tools to diagnose and manage this condition. 4. Career issues for SAS doctors - Dr R Shanbhag A chance to discuss the role of SAS Doctors in a changing NHS. 5. Contraceptive case studies - Dr Sally Pickard A regular favourite workshop. There is always something new to learn in contraception. Attend this workshop and see if you are as up to date as you thought. 6. Women and HIV? - Dr Laura Waters Women and HIV encompasses a whole range of situations in which HIV affects women some of which you may never have considered. This workshop will help you address the pertinent issues for women and HIV and how to manage some of the common problems. 7. Managing rectal infections in MSM - Dr Suneeta Soni This is a fun and interesting workshop with a focus on rectal infection for clinicians who see and treat men who have sex with men. The aim is to appreciate the clinical presentation of rectal STI in MSM and to understand the causes of proctitis in MSM
5 Saturday 9 th September 1. Challenging cases in GU medicine - Dr Hayley Wood Come and see if you would now how to deal with these challenging cases. You will have an opportunity to discuss with others different approaches and solutions to what are often complex problems. 2. Child sex exploitation - Rita Browne Working in sexual health we cannot help but be aware of the risks to children of sexual exploitation. This workshop will explore how we can be more vigilant, signs to look for and increase our awareness of how perpetrators try to exploit young people. 3. The Dip GUM: How to pass - Dr Anne Oliver Are you thinking about taking the Dip GUM? Do you want advice about how to prepare and what to expect. This workshop aims to give you useful tips so that you can approach the exam with more confidence. 4. Meeting the sexual health needs of trans-gender patients - Dr Jane Hussey Have you ever considered what the sexual health needs of trans gender patients are? This workshop will help you address the common and not so common situations and problems that trans gender patients face in our sexual health clinics. 5. Sex and spirituality - Remziye Kunelaki In this workshop you can gain an awareness and understanding of the importance of sex and spirituality in sexual health. Find out how setting up projects/workshops can meet the needs of the local community. 6. Enhance your medical education skills - Dason Evans Do you enjoy teaching but have had no formal training or perhaps you have not attended an update of you r teaching skills in a while. This workshop will offer ideas and point you in the right direction. 7. Managing victims of sexual assault: A forensic perspective - Susan Grieves A useful workshop for all who work in sexual health. Even if we are not directly involved in forensic examinations ourselves it is important that we know what is involved so that we can counsel our patients appropriately.

Registration includes conference attendance, meals (including conference dinner) and overnight accommodation. As this event is generously subsidised, we cannot offer any other conference package. Cancellation Policy Cancellation received more than 14 days prior to the event start date; fee refunded less a cancellation charge of 10%. Cancellation received 7-14 days prior to the event start date; fee refunded less a cancellation charge of 50%. Cancellation received within 7 days of the event start date; no refund. Cancellations must be received in writing and sent to the conference administration team. Regrettably, BASHH cannot transfer you to another event or training course if you are unable to attend.
