2 COMMUNITY CALENDAR Repairing a Broken Heart: Advances In Cardiac Care Maintaining good heart health is a priority we can all embrace. A healthy diet and regular exercise help keep the heart strong and functioning properly. Yet heart disease remains the number one cause of death in the United States. There is good news! We are making advances in both surgical and non-surgical treatment and care of the heart. What do you need to know should you or someone you love be faced with issues related to your heart? What are the cutting edge treatments that could provide lifesaving assistance when time is critical? Join Dr. Kurt Daniel with UNC Regional Physicians Carolina Cardiology to learn more about the exciting advances taking place in cardiac care. Call today to reserve your space at this free event. Tuesday, February 13 at 11:30 a.m. Millis Regional Health Education Center 600 N. Elm Street, High Point The Beat Goes On: Atrial Fibrillation Causes, Symptoms and Treatment Atrial Fibrillation also known as AFib is when the heart develops an irregular and often rapid heartbeat. The heart normally contracts and relaxes to a regular beat but with atrial fibrillation, the upper chambers of the heart (the atria) beat irregularly (quiver) instead of beating effectively to move blood into the ventricles. AFib is a serious condition which can increase a person s risk of stroke, heart failure and other heart related issues. Join Dr. David Fitzgerald with UNC Regional Physicians Carolina Cardiology to learn more about the causes, symptoms and treatment of atrial fibrillation. Call today to reserve your space at this free event. Tuesday, February 20 at 5:30 p.m. Millis Regional Health Education Center 600 N. Elm Street, High Point These events are free to attend but you must register in advance. To register, call (336) Like us on Facebook Facebook.com/HighPointRegional Facebook.com/UNCRegionalPhysicians
