Our unique menu of services are free and confidential. They include counselling and therapy sessions, individual support, youth work and an arts and cultural programme. We also offer young people group work sessions and drop-ins and real opportunities to help shape our service and have a voice. working in manchester, Trafford, salford & tameside 42 nd Street offers services to young people across these areas. Some services are targeted at specific areas or particular groups of young people. In Manchester, Trafford and Salford we offer individual therapeutic support in a range of community based venues for young people aged years. We also deliver community based group work with partners across Manchester, Trafford and Salford based on the needs of specific groups and areas. All young people aged across Manchester, Trafford and Salford can also come to 42 nd Street s purpose built, award winning building, The Space, on Great Ancoats Street, Manchester, where we run our full range of one to one and group work opportunities. Tameside 42 nd Street also works in partnership with the Tameside and Glossop Young People s Mental Health Team which provides a service for young people who are experiencing significant disruption in their lives as a result of their mental health needs. Contact for more information. Work in schools For many years 42 nd Street has provided individual support, counselling and group work in a range of high schools/ academies across Greater Manchester. 3 42 nd street provides A RANGE OF OPPORTUNITIES TO YOUNG PEOPLE INCLUDING: Mental health needs assessment Counselling and therapy Individual community mental health support Group work including a weekly drop-in, a regular tackling depression group and a weekly young women s group A referral and help line Youth work and arts and cultural programmes designed to improve young people s skills and confidence Participation and leadership opportunities for young people using the service Expertise in work with issues of self-harm and attempted suicide Advocacy Referrals: 42 nd street will take referrals directly from young people or from family, friends and other agencies. We will only accept referrals where the young person concerned is aware that the referral is being made. Young people referred will normally be offered an initial assessment appointment to determine what kind of support is going to be most effective. This includes an assessment of relevant risk issues. While 42 nd street works with many young people who are self-harming or at risk of suicide we are not a crisis service. If a young person is at immediate risk assistance should be sought from their GP, A&E or relevant mental health crisis service. Referrals can be made via the helpline or completed referral forms can be submitted by fax or post. Referral forms are available to download from the website
