205 MID YEAR SURVEY RESULTS -SUMMARY 2 members (out of 800+) responded to the survey Results showed that 68% of surveyed members were satisfied to very satisfied with PMI Metrolina Chapter. 53% have been members for 3 years or less. 38% attend -2 chapter meetings. Typically, good speaker is primary reason why people attend a chapter meeting. 44% rely on communication information via website or newsletter and 75% stated that the newsletter is very helpful. 78% of our members have their PMP certification. Detailed Data Below:
DETAILED DATA: What is your level of satisfaction with the PMI Metrolina chapter? I just joined Operates at lowest common denominator with regard to knowledge transfer. It's time we elevated the profession. PDD day 204 was extremely disappointing. Look to Southern Fried Agile as an event to mimic, they have serious topics and information transfer. PMI Metorlina is like being in kindergarten. Meetings are expensive I work and spend a great deal of my time overseas working as a Project Manager. I am from Charlotte and don't get to attend the meetings/functions this great organization has to offer. With that being said I was wondering why aren't there more webinars for the chapter, for those of us abroad? I have not been active, my fault, not the chapter. too new. attending my first mtg this wk The community support in Fayetteville has been difficult. Just joined Neutral only because I've not taken advantage of the chapter (working on my PMP) A new member... Metrolina Chapter is too far away. As co-chair of the Fayetteville community, many members have shared this sentiment. There is a common request to be realigned with the Raleigh Chapter. Travel to Charlotte averages three or more hours from Fayetteville. Travel to Raleigh averages hour from Fayetteville. 8 Comments: Please provide additional comments and suggestions for the Chapter. Starting the meeting at 5:30pm is too early for me. 6:00pm would be better. When you have members who want to volunteer - does it really matter about their skillset? This is an opportunity for growth, theirs and the chapters. To decline members who want to volunteer is closing the door and saying you`re not welcomed. This is the image of the Metrolina chapter; almost seems more of a clique than an organization helping members build their project management skills. The wording of dome of your questions is confusing. Are chspter/community meetings the same as month chapter meetings? None The discount for PDD is helpful, but I still wish it were better priced. Interested in topics that span industries (Cyber security; Analytics Tools for Project Controls; etc. Suggestions from our membership:realign Fayetteville to the Raleigh PMI Chapter. Thankful for the work the Chapter does to support community meetings; if not for those, wouldn`t be able to attend. Elevate the profession, stop PM 0 stuff. Time we grew up. I`d like to start receiving an the week prior to monthly meeting as a reminder to register. That would help me remember to register to get the discount, and I would attend more meetings. I appreciate the level of communication provided by this chapter, and having a surevey that is easy to complete. I find Chapter meetings to be very informative and helpful. Metrolina chapter is so active, there aare alwayss opportunities to get involved. Keep doing what you`re doing! Varying the day of meetings would benefit those who have a standing conflict on regular meeting days. Jennifer is the best Metrolina Prez I have seen I`m new and still refining my expectations and what u would need for professional development. Live in Murphy, NC, so not much to offer. I would attend more in person if I lived closer... more skill fest with serious employers Have a meeting that provide opportunity to address real life PM challenges. I have not attended a meeting yet. A discount for monthly meetings for retired PMI professionals who are still holding their certifications. Would like to see more C-Suite executives speak at PMI Metrolina events
Considering hectic schedule, I`m very pleased with the chapter and planned activities. I stopped coming because of the lack of flexibility in last minute at the door prices went crazy high, speakers were very elementary, not really an elevation of PM knowledge, more tick the boxes of a speaker. Poor advanced concepts. skills fest needs to be more than contract recruiters I just joined Have not partcipiated enough to provide value or feedback Q2: Please provide suggestions on what would make the chapter/community meetings more appealing to you. They are appealing. It`s the timing of the meetings, the third Thursday of each month. But changing the day isn`t worth it if only person has a conflict. The format is the same each meeting...speaker, presentation, q&a - time permits...more interactive meetings, other than sitting and listening faciliate more networking event and encourage the members to participate more. A presentation on how to network is one way. None strong lineup of speakers for monthly meetings I like the time and location. It`s just a busy time of work & travel for me right now. Remind speakers to use microphones. I do not like when they ask if we can hear them. Maybe they start strongf but fade fast. Same for the PMI speakers. Use the microphone and speak slowly. Need to get more professional about topics that actually elevate the profession and skill set, generally when i last attended they were PM 0 topics, especially at PD Day, and a lot of the chapter meetings were like, oh, we need to present something at the meeting, who can present, vs what is key for PMs to really elevate their performance. Asheville Member Controlling fees is always good as everything else is competing for the same $$ The speakers are nont always relevant to the work I`m doing at the time, but are almost aalwayss good speakers. Refreshments More social networking events, More creative ways to earn PDUs (games etc..) Diversity in location and time. You are doing a going job as far as I can tell. keep on Fweekends Have a meeting that provide opportunity to address real life PM challenges.
I need to participate more. I work and spend a great deal of my time overseas working as a Project Manager. I am from Charlotte and don`t get to attend the meetings/functions this great organization has to offer. With that being said I was wondering why aren`t there more webinars for the chapter, for those of us abroad? Attempt to urge speakers to use the microphone. They may think they have the voice strength to go without but it fades fast. better food choices. assign new members/ certificate holders to a mentor Would like to see more C-Suite executives speak at PMI Metrolina events Flexibility, it`s hard to know always that you`ll be able to attend due to what comes up. So paying $45 at door is rediculous. I just joined Q3: If you use one of the PMI Metrolina social media sites (Twitter and LinkedIn), for what reason(s) do you visit these? I didn`t know they existed... will need to connect. For information. I don`t use Twitter None interesting topic discussions linked in Information and networking See what is going on locally Networking to keep up with events Keep in touch Staying up to date, links to resources, idea generation To hear what others are asking. Meet new people Job opportunities Q4: Please provide suggestions for improving the overall membership experience. nothing to add at this time Need to get more professionally oriented, elevated topics, discussions presentations, events. Southern Fried Agile is leaps ahead in a short amount of time. I would like to see a risk prep course and more opportunities for risk management focused education
Include more visibility to job opportunities, not just traditional networking. Also continue with visibility to obtaining PDUs Connecting and mingling with non-profits and business leaders in the Charlotte area (i.e. through WISE/IT-Ology, Leadership Charlotte, etc) More of a personal touch. Some form of more personal contact other than just the standard weekly and monthly s. I just need to get involved remotely more. Fix the continual issue of having to baby correct PDU submission for multiple certificate holders. I need to attend the meetings and participate. Provide opportunities for part time working with partners and other companies, if possible. do something like a annual fun day Would like to see more C-Suite executives speak at PMI Metrolina events Take it up ten notches in professional level topics. Given that the Chapter is a volunteer organization, I believe that the BEST is being done for its membership! I just joined Its not you, its me. I ned to make the time to attend the meetings and be more involved
