3 Head lice is a part of school life, but is something that we hope to minimise as much as possible. Could all parents please make sure they check their children for head lice at the beginning of school holidays. If lice or eggs are found, a treatment is required immediately followed by a second treatment 7 days later. Remember: Check your child weekly Tie back hair Don t share hats Lice can t fly or jump, they spread by direct contact Inform the school nurse if your child has lice Children cannot come to school until lice has been treated Treatment is not effective unless repeated 7 days later Read all instructions and use a lice comb when attending treatments Lice are very small and often difficult to find. Be patient when looking for lice and eggs, use a magnifying glass and good lighting. It makes the job much easier. 4 Wow I can t believe that we have reached the last week of term 1 already! Annual Luncheon We had our Annual Luncheon last Friday at the Brighton International, and from all accounts people had a great time, especially those busting a move on the dance floor to the sounds of our DJ s Georgie and Craig. Other entertainment was provided by our two spiritual readers, Ioanna and Lana, and Catherine and Lucy had our makeup and styling needs sorted. I would like to thank Emma Rosen, Sherryn Bowker and Fiona Carney for assisting in the preparation of the day. I would also like to thank all of those who helped with the hampers, including all of you who kindly donated items. Bay Street businesses also provided us with some amazing donations, they are listed further down in the newsletter. A very big thanks goes out to the Admin team, who spent many hours working on the luncheon behind the scenes, and definitely played a role in the success of the event. For those of you who won prizes but have not collected your vouchers yet, please contact me on fob@brighton.vic.edu.au Fun Run Our next FoB event is the Fun Run that is to be held on Thursday 20 th April. We are trying something new this year. A booklet and explanatory letter will be sent home with your children this week so please be sure to check their bags. Each child participating in the event will receive a prize depending on how much they raise. There are some amazing prizes which are sure to get the children excited. The most significant change to this event is that you can get sponsors online. So all of the children s relatives and friends can donate to them directly. There is information in the front of the booklet showing you how to register for the fun run and collect online sponsors. Offcourse the booklet also provides space for you to donate cash. Monica Connors and Jennifer Lee have kindly taken on this event. This year we will once again be doing a Trivia Night, though it will be held at the Brighton Town Hall. There will be a different quiz master and each table will decide on their own theme. Prizes will be awarded for the best costumes and table decorations so start getting your table together! Tables will be in groups of More details available closer to the event.
