Dear Prospective Member: The coming months are a critical time for the Latino community and all Americans. With issues like education, health, infrastructure, voting rights and immigration reform at the forefront of our nation s policy agenda, leaders like you have an unprecedented opportunity to help America thrive. As a leader on the frontlines of your community, I would like to invite you to join me in the effort to move our nation forward as a member of the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO). NALEO is a non-profit, non-partisan membership organization committed to ensuring the nation s more than 6,100 Latino elected and appointed officials are effective advocates for the communities they serve. Through access to unique professional development opportunities, technical assistance support and networking events, NALEO members are able to build the skills and expertise needed to shape policy outcomes for their constituents. In addition to being a part of the largest network of Latino elected and appointed officials and community leaders in the country, NALEO members are invited to participate in the NALEO Annual Conference and NALEO Policy Institutes. These events feature renowned experts that cover substantive topics relating to education, healthcare, housing, economic development, and other pertinent issues that affect Latinos and all Americans. NALEO members also have access to monthly audio-conference events and groundbreaking research publications that provide public servants with the most up-to-date information on many of the most pressing issues facing our nation today. I hope that you will join me and the numerous elected and appointed officials from across the country that made the decision to become a NALEO member by joining NALEO today. Best Regards, HON. PAULINE MEDRANO (D) Dallas County Treasurer NALEO President
JOIN NALEO By becoming a NALEO member, you will have access to the largest network of Latino elected and appointed officials and community leaders committed to improving the lives of their constituents in the United States. NALEO invites you to become a member and enhance your effectiveness as a public servant. HON. CRISANTA DURAN (D-CO) (PICTURED LEFT) SPEAKER OF THE COLORADO HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES NALEO made an enormous impact on me at the Newly Elected Training back in 2002 that since then, I have been a firm believer in the organization and a staunch proponent of our programs and services. As an elected official in the Midwest where there are not many Latino elected officials, NALEO has provided me with a national family of Latino elected officials and with invaluable training, mentoring, ideas, and support. After receiving so much support, I did not hesitate to become a NALEO lifetime member. HON. SERGIO DE LEON (NP-TX) JUSTICE OF THE PEACE PRECINCT 5 TARRANT COUNTY, TEXAS HON. ROGER GARCIA (D-NE) TRUSTEE METROPOLITAN COMMUNITY COLLEGE
NALEO MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS NALEO Directory NALEO members receive the National Directory of Latino Elected Officials, our comprehensive listing of the growing number of Latinos serving the public in elected office. Networking NALEO members have access to numerous networking opportunities hosted by NALEO throughout the year. Including the NALEO Annual Conference, NALEO Edward R. Roybal Legacy Gala, and other regional events. Newsletters The NALEO e-newsletter, issued quarterly, recognizes the efforts of NALEO members and policymakers on issues vital to the growing Latino population. Policymakers will receive information and analysis necessary for effective participation in the American political process. NALEO Policy Institutes Members are eligible to apply for professional development seminars offered through NALEO Educational Fund. NALEO Policy Institutes cover topics such as education, health, housing, economic development, and other pertinent issues that affect your constituents. Publications NALEO members are the first to receive copies of our publications, including the Latino Election Handbook as well as timely and relevant policy updates. These resources provide critical data about Latino demographics and electoral participation trends. They also present incisive political analysis and descriptions of the key races involving Latino candidates. Webinars NALEO offers its members regular webinars to learn about pertinent policy issues such as education, health, housing, economic development and infrastructure among other topics.
ADDITIONAL BENEFITS FOR LIFETIME MEMBERS Lifetime Member Pad Folio Personal Thank you /phone call from Executive Director or Membership Chair Listing on NALEO Conference Journal Listing on NALEO Membership site Personalize Social Media Mention on Member Monday Special Invitation to Regional NALEO Events HON. CHRISTI FRAGA (NP-FL) COUNCILMEMBER CITY OF DORAL, FLORIDA WHAT NALEO MEMBERS HAVE TO SAY: NALEO offers the most in depth information at a local, state, and federal level. I have been involved with other Latino organizations but NALEO comes on top when it comes to timely issues and organizing the programs well. As a lifetime member of NALEO, I have participated in excellent professional development workshops to build my capacity, previously as a school board member and currently as a Community College Trustee. NALEO has provided me with the opportunity to build relationships with elected officials from across the state and nation, share our experiences and learn from each other. HON. RENE GARCIA (R-FL) FLORIDA STATE SENATOR HON. JOHN VARGAS (R-CA) TRUSTEE EL CAMINO COMMUNITY COLLEGE
The future of the United States is woven with the future of the Latino community. NALEO s activities nurture better candidates, elected, and appointed officials by providing space to network, mentor and learn from each other. NALEO s work is critical to building a better future for our country. NALEO conferences and webinars have provided me with useful and current information from industry leaders in education, cyber-security, disaster preparedness, and health care to name a few. As a legislator, I appreciate the tools and network NALEO offers so we all can become better government officials and community leaders. At hearings and meetings at home, you ll be prepared to ask the right questions and pursue policy changes to improve your community. HON. NELLIE GORBEA (D-RI) RHODE ISLAND SECRETARY OF STATE HON. DONOVAN DELA CRUZ (D-HI) HAWAII STATE SENATOR NALEO has empowered me to become a stronger leader for the Latino community. I am thankful to NALEO for its contributions in my personal and professional endeavors. Becoming a lifetime member, has proved to be a valuable investment in my career. Joining NALEO broadens networks and prepares leaders to better serve our communities. I recommend anyone interested in civic advocacy to join and experience its richness firsthand. HON.
