With your support, the Partnership last year hosted the Consumer Food Safety Education Conference a conference previously funded by and hosted by the USDA and in doing so came full circle as convener of the people inside and outside of government who work together to improve behavior change as a result of consumer food safety education. The Partnership could not have hosted the conference without your help Thank You! In 2012 we set out to improve PFSE leadership in three core areas and in 2015 we will continue to make significant advancements in each of these: 1. Convening practitioners inside and outside government to work together to share best practices to improve outcomes in food safety education. [300+ attended the December 2014 conference in person and over 1300 online] 2. Amplifying telling the story of the impact that educators have on consumer knowledge and behavior that helps protect their health [Ashley is rolling out stories all the time at teamfoodsafety.org] 3. Evaluation leading the effort among partners and Agency liaisons to better measure and align programs with desired outcomes. [We executed an environmental scan of consumer food safety education and collaborated with FDA to assess and collate food safety education research]. Welcome to Your contribution to the Partnership this year goes directly toward 1) improving the PFSE web presence, 2) marketing outreach to educators and consumers, and 3) providing health and food safety educators with quality materials and programming, such as Home Food Safety Mythbusters, Fight BAC! brown bag webinars and knowledge sharing events. This Partnership succeeds because of the engagement of you - our Partners. We look forward to a year of greater engagement, dialogue and impact in consumer food safety education. 4 About the Partnership for Food Safety Education The nonprofit Partnership for Food Safety Education develops and promotes effective education programs to reduce foodborne illness risk for consumers. Partnership messages and materials are distributed to an estimated 8 million consumers each year through our industry, non-profit and government partners, web sites, social media outreach, and directly through more than 14,000 health and food safety educators ( BAC! Fighters ) in communities across the country. PFSE unites representatives from industry; professional societies in food science, nutrition and health; consumer groups; and liaisons from the U.S. Department of Agriculture and-- from the Department of Health and Human Services-- the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Food and Drug Administration, to educate the public about actions at home and at work that can reduce the risk of foodborne illness. PFSE Team: Shelley Feist, Executive Director Shelley has led the Partnership for over ten years.
