(216) fax (216) The Alcohol, Drug Addiction & Mental Health Services (ADAMHS) Board of Cuyahoga County s Training Institute is an approved provider through the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board and the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist Board offering Recognized Clock Hours (RCH) to Chemical Dependency Professionals as well as Continuing Professional Education hours (CPE) to Counselors and Social Workers. Fees for the ADAMHS Board Training Institute workshops are $25 per half-day (2-4 hour) session and $45 for a full-day (5+ hour) session. Occasionally, workshops will be offered free on an as-needed basis per topic. Workshop fees are non-refundable. The ADAMHS Board is using Eventbrite to process ALL registrations. Payment can be made by credit card and/or checks made payable to the ADAMHS Board of Cuyahoga County. Invoices may be sent to organizations. All workshop participants must be registered and confirmed in advance through Eventbrite. An order confirmation and entrance ticket to the workshop will be ed through Eventbrite immediately after the registration process is complete. Walk-ups and cash payments will not be accepted. To register for a workshop, visit the Web site listed at the end of each workshop description. Please note that each session has its own unique Web address. If you want to attend more than one session, you must register for each session individually through its unique Web site. Please arrive on time for all scheduled workshops. If you arrive late to a workshop you will not receive a certificate. Partial credit will not be given. In order to receive a certificate of completion, you must be present for the entire workshop. General Information: All workshops are held in the Training Institute, located in the ADAMHS Board offices on the 6 th Floor of the United Bank Building, 2012 West 25 th Street. Free parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis. All visitors must check-in at the blue Parking Attendant Booth located in the lot directly behind the building on the east side of West 26 th Street. Visitors are to inform the attendant that they are visiting the ADAMHS Board and will be directed to available parking spaces or may receive complimentary valet parking. Please bring the ticket provided to you from the attendant to the ADAMHS Board receptionist for validation. Free and metered parking is also available on the street. OPEN LEVEL ENTRY LEVEL INTERMEDIATE LEVEL ADVANCED LEVEL Participants must meet the minimum education level and credential requirements indicated: Open to anyone seeking the most basic understanding/awareness of the topic presented. Registrants must be Certified Chemical Dependency Assistants, Registered Applicants for Prevention, Social Worker Assistant or STNA. Registrant must be a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor II, Licensed Social Worker, or Licensed Professional Nurse. Registrants must be Professional Counselors, Professional Clinical Counselors, Licensed Independent Social Workers, Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor III s, Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselors, Registered Nurses, a D.O. or M.D. or have a Ph.D. in Psychology, Counseling or Human Services. 3 Embodying Change: A Path to Sustainable Wellness L. Claire Campbell, LPCC, ATR, NCC December 12, 2014 Intermediate SP This is a hands on workshop that will address the impact and effectiveness of utilizing a mindfulness-based approach to trauma work with survivors and advocates working to end sexual violence. The workshop will explore creative approaches to managing trauma symptoms as well as addressing vicarious trauma, counter transference, compassion fatigue, and a sustainable path to wellness. Click this link: Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Disorders Dr. Paul Martin, DO December 16, 2014 Entry/Intermediate The number of children and adolescents with serious emotional disturbance with functional impairment ranges between 10-20%. Children Whose Parents are Incarcerated Dr. Paul Martin, D.O. January 9, 2015 Entry/Intermediate We will take an in-depth look at how the incarceration of a parent impacts the child, the community and society at large. Additionally, we will look at unique therapeutic needs, mental health issues, and permanency planning needs for these children, and review intervention strategies. Demystifying EMDR: Clinical Approaches for Recovery Enhancement & Trauma Jamie Marich, Ph.D., LPCC-S, LICDC-CS January 15, 2015 Open Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a viable psychotherapy for the treatment of trauma and other related mental health disorders. In recent years, several major organizations have endorsed EMDR in practice guidelines as an efficacious treatment for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). This workshop uses both didactic and experiential components to explain the theoretical element of EMDR, clear up common misconceptions about the therapeutic approach, assess client appropriateness for EMDR referral, and help you decide if further training in EMDR is right for you. Some EMDR-related techniques are taught for use by attendees in clinical settings. Page 2

4 Creative Interventions and Working in the Here and Now L. Claire Campbell, LPCC-S, ATR, NCC January 16, 2015 Intermediate This hands on workshop will address the impact and effectiveness of utilizing an expressive arts-based approach to support clients of all ages while simultaneously targeting the current treatment goals. The workshop will explore creative approaches to establishing and nurturing the therapeutic relationship, engaging the client, collaboration in therapy, and continued growth for clients outside the therapy session. Participants will see and experience examples of creative interventions suitable for use with their particular practice and population. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy Samantha Mishne, MSW, LISW-S, LICDC January 23, 2015 Intermediate Participants will learn about the four components of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) Individual Therapy, Skills Training, Phone Coaching and Consultation Team. Participant will learn about what DBT targets (Suicidality and Self-Harming Behavior) and the difference between DBT for adults verses adolescents. Elder Abuse: Forms, Indicators and Consequences Amy Burzinski, MSW, LISW-S January 30, 2015 Open SP Elder abuse is a sad reality that all too often is under reported. However, elder abuse is something that can be addressed and prevented. This course will provide participants with a foundation of knowledge into the prevalence and forms of elder abuse and the skills necessary to assess and work with individuals whom they suspect may be or are being abused. This class will provide participants with a framework in which to assess and intervene with the geriatric population. 5 Roads to Recovery 15: Destination Recovery Monday, September 21, 2015 at the Marriott Cleveland Airport Hotel CALL FOR PROPOSALS This biennial regional conference for clients of mental health services, individuals in treatment from addictions, family members, and providers of mental health and alcohol and other drug treatment/prevention services Proposals Due: Friday, February 27, 2015 What the ADAMHS Board of Cuyahoga County is looking for: CALL FOR PROPOSALS Call for Training Institute Presenters The ADAMHS Board Training Institute is seeking proposals for various trainings and workshops for its 2015 session. Trainer/Speaker Fees: $600 for a full-day workshop $300 for 1/2 day workshop Less than $300 for special workshops under 3.5 hours Illustrating successful mental health and alcohol and other drug addiction recovery models and best practices. Implementing successful mental health and alcohol and other drug addiction recovery models into daily practice for consumers, clients and professionals. Establishing a trusting relationship between clients, family members, and providers to foster recovery. Educating the public that personal recovery from mental illness and alcohol and other drug addiction is possible. Each workshop presenter and/or secondary presenter(s) will have a combined total of 90 minutes for the presentation, including time for audience participation. We also are accepting proposals for special institute workshops of 180 minutes for presentation of in-depth information. Proposals from presenters/trainers/ speakers with the following qualifications: - Licensed professionals, including LPCC, LISW, LIMFT,LICDC, OCPS-II, etc. - Bachelors Degreed, Masters Degreed and/or RN, Ph.D., M.D., etc. - Life experiences as a client/consumer receiving behavioral health services and/or has recovered or is in recovery from mental illness and/or addictions. 7 Presenter Information Amy Burzinski, MSW, LISW-S, has over 23 years of experience in human services. Amy s experience includes working with individuals and families in hospitals, employee assistance programs, outpatient treatment programs, and school and camp settings. Amy served as the coordinator for a victim services agency in New York where she worked with women and families affected by domestic violence as well as training physicians and medical staff how to identify, document and refer victims of domestic violence. She also writes a website on bullying prevention and presents workshops throughout the U.S. L. Claire Campbell, LPCC-S, ATR, NCC, is a fine artist, Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, and Registered Art Therapist residing and working in Cleveland, Ohio. She currently is an adjunct professor at Ursuline College and also works in a private practice. Claire supports clients, students, and colleagues via a sustainable approach utilizing expressive arts, movement, breath work, guided imagery and sensory integration. Over the past 15 years, she has worked with children, adults and families in varied mental health and educational settings. Claire continues to present nationally on trauma informed clinical practice, compassion fatigue and art-based approaches to wellness. Her expertise and passion lies in supporting wellness in the workplace and sustainable treatment approaches including mindfulness-based therapy and the expressive arts. Claire is also the owner and founder of SerendipityCleveland, a multi-use, private practice space that centers its work on growth, creativity and potential. Samantha Mishne, MSW, LISW-S, LICDC, earned her masters degree in clinical social work from The Smith College Master of Social Work (MSW) in Since that time she has worked with children, adolescents, and young adults in a community mental health setting and currently is at the Cleveland Center for Eating Disorders. She is also an adjunct faculty in the masters program at Case Western Reserve Mandel School of Applied Sciences. Samantha s current clinical focus is using dialectical behavior therapy to treat adolescent and adults. Dr. Jamie Marich, Ph.D., LPCC-S, LICDC, has worked in mental health residential treatment, and in chemical dependency treatment as an inpatient, outpatient, and dual diagnosis counselor. Jamie travels the country presenting original workshops for counselors and social workers. She is a Certified EMDR Therapist and Approved Consultant. In 2008, Jamie was the first place poster research winner at the EMDRIA Conference, and she has garnered several peer reviewed publications on her work with EMDR. Her first published book on EMDR, EMDR Made Simple: 4 Approaches for Using EMDR with Every Client, was released in Jamie is a member of several organizations, including the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress. Currently at PsyCare, Inc. in Youngstown, Ohio, she specializes in addiction treatment, PTSD/issues related to abuse and trauma, dissociative disorders, spiritual issues (including recovery from spiritual abuse), cross-cultural issues, consultation, and grief. Jamie has also been praised by clients and colleagues for her ability to use the creative arts, including music, into the healing process. A singer-songwriter with four CDs to her credit, Jamie is also a dance instructor. To read more, go to Dr. Paul Martin, D.O., completed a residency in psychiatry at Case/MetroHealth and a fellowship in Forensic Medicine, Syracuse University. In addition to several years as a staff psychiatrist working in jails, crisis centers and prisons, he has served as a consultant to State of Wisconsin public defenders regarding competency issues. As a consultant he has presented throughout the states of New York, Pennsylvania and Ohio to social services, law enforcement, probation, school personnel, businesses and universities on topics of mental health issues, stress and violence in the workplace, and adolescent violence. He completed a residency in psychiatry through a combined program with Case Western Reserve University and MetroHealth Medical Center as well as a fellowship in Forensic Medicine at Syracuse University.
