2 About the service Our crisis house provides a 24 hour, 7 day a week quick access service for people in crisis. Anyone living in Leicester, Leicestershire & Rutland who is over 18 and is experiencing a crisis that is affecting their mental health can be referred to the service. Our staff are trained in delivering support to people with complex needs. We also employ peer support workers; experts by experience who have undergone specialist training. Our staff will work with you in a way that puts you at the centre of your crisis management plan. Together we will develop a support plan that focuses on the issues and goals you feel are important, helping you to manage and achieve these. We will work closely with the crisis team from Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust to empower you to manage your crisis during your stay. We can also work with anyone else who is supporting you with your mental health, whether that is other services, friends, family or carers.

3 How the service works Our dedicated team are on hand to offer you support in the following ways: Up to 7 nights accommodation at the crisis house Support to transition from community or urgent care services to the crisis house Daily 1:1s Crisis specific support Informal individual and group activities which include cooking, creative writing, music, art, mindfulness and relaxation Practical problem solving support and advice Short and long term strategies to promote and support recovery e.g. support with developing a long term Wellness Recovery Support Plan Peer support and individual work Advocacy The Trust s crisis team will visit you at the crisis house to ensure that your community support continues throughout your stay and after you leave if required Information about other resources and services you can access Referrals or supported visits to other services where appropriate An exit plan and support to help you to manage after your crisis has been resolved We will work with the Trust s crisis team to ensure that you have access to adequate support should we not be able to meet your needs.

4 Working in partnership We re providing our services in partnership with Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust. You can be referred to use this service by the crisis team at Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust. Referrals We are unable to take referrals from the following groups: Who are detained under the Mental Health Act Who have just been discharged from an acute psychiatric ward Whose primary need is for housing or a detox from substances Who are currently using substances to a level that stopping would be unsafe Whose level of risk or physical health issues are beyond what the service is able to manage If the crisis house is not the most appropriate service for you following your assessment, we will provide you with information about services that may be more suitable for your needs. We will work with everyone accessing the service to ensure safety and support is on offer. With this in mind we will ask you to agree to our house rules and also draw up a personal risk management plan with you, so that we can support you to stay safe during your stay.

5 Moving on Following your departure from the crisis house, we will provide follow up by phone. We are keen to involve the people using our services in the continuous review and improvement of the support we provide. Everyone who uses the service is invited to take part in this process through our service user involvement groups. At the crisis house, we will manage your records within a legal framework that protects your confidentiality.
