2 IMPORTANT - GREEK COMMUNITY SAFETY Catching a Ride with Uber or Lyft? Safety Tips for Using Car Services UCF Greek Community, Friday- our favorite day of the week! We know many of you utilize services like Uber and Lyft to get around, and we thought some safety tips might be helpful. Consider the following next time you order one of these cars: 1. Don't pull open the door and hop in before you actually speak with your driver. Not only is this unsafe, it's also rude - - and undoubtedly pretty shocking to the driver - - if you suddenly jump into the wrong car (This happens more than you think...awkward...). 2. Always check the make of the car as well as its license number. This is to ensure it matches the same information that the service gave you when you ordered the car, and so you have an idea of what kind of car you are in in the case of an emergency. 3. Ask your driver's name - - and make sure the photo in the vehicle matches up with the face. 4. Follow the map on the app. If your driver starts heading off the highlighted route ask them where they are going. 5. Utilize Uber's "share your ETA" feature. As soon as your ride is conbirmed and the driver is on his way, you can actually input your destination into the app and share that with anyone via text message 6. Rate your driver after your ride. If you have a good experience let people know. If you have a poor experience let people know to avoid this driver. Ride safely! As always, please contact Olivia Escalona (Olivia.Escalona@ucf.edu), Coordinator of Risk Prevention with any questions or concerns. Charge On! The OfBice of Fraternity and Sorority Life! PAGE 2
