2 MiMentor Health Careers Conference brought to you by: Dear MiMentor Health Careers Conference Participant, Thank you for participating in our 2014 MiMentor Health Careers Los Angeles College with the goal to bring together over 500 aspiring healthcare professionals, and their mentors, advisors, faculty and community based organizations. MiMentor firmly believes mentoring is a team sport and when our mentees succeed we all win! Alliance in Mentorship (AIM) is a 501c3 non-profit organization with the mission to develop and support innovative mentoring opportunities for aspiring and current health care professionals. We launched an on-line virtual mentoring community with over 500 aspiring and current healthcare professionals. MiMentor uses a social media platform like Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and Youtube featuring health professional mentoring video stories targeting Latino pre-health undergraduate students throughout the country. Our alliance includes undergraduate and professional institutions, and other key non-profit organizations that are committed to improving diversity of the healthcare workforce by providing readily accessible mentoring opportunities to low-income, first generation and underrepresented students. Jr. Pre-health Track Workshops - 10 concurrent sessions Mentoring Boot Camp, Health Career Options, College pathways to health careers, Nursing, Physician Assistant, Dentistry, and Medicine. Advanced Pre-health Workshops - 3 concurrent sessions Application to health career professions programs best practices, A winning CV/Resume, Personal statement formulas for success. 11:30-12:30pm Mentor/Mentee Session (Problem Based Learning/Mentoring Session) Have the opportunity to get mentored and learn from a healthcare professional mentor who will walk you through a medical mystery case. 12:30-2:15pm Lunch/Resource Fair and/or Museum Tour Make a connection with the organizations that will help you strengthen your resume / get into the health professional program of your dreams / start your career. 2:30-4:00pm Mini-Medical Cases / Hands on Workshops Learn more about various health careers by participating in some fun activities where you will learn some great medical skills. 4:15-4:45pm Closing Speaker, Surveys, Raffle Make sure you stay until the closing to get a chance to win some exciting prizes that will help you along your journey to become a healthcare professional.
