1 Consultant Visitation Analysis The Pi Kappa Alpha International Fraternity Chapter Name.... Zeta Sigma Host Institution. Florida Institute of Technology Visit Dates 2/22/14 2/27/14 Chapter Consultant Ivan Valentine The Fraternity Mission Pi Kappa Alpha is dedicated to developing men of integrity, intellect and high moral character and to fostering a truly lifelong fraternal experience. The following pages contain a chapter assessment in worksheet format. This worksheet is divided into four categories: membership, operations, brotherhood and leadership. The annual consultant visit focuses on these four areas, as does the Fraternity s International Awards program. The evaluation criteria is based upon the Fraternity s Vision, Mission and Creed and the True Pike. For more information, please contact your Consultant or the Director of Services at pkaserv@pikes.org.

2 2 Consultant Visitation Summary Executive Summary The Zeta Sigma chapter is very well established in programming and efficient in operations. With a strong working relationship and ties to the University and Greek system, the Chapter is dominate with its presence on campus. A few areas of focus I recommend for the Chapter are the following: Alumni Events The Chapter has great alumni support and opens many of its events up for alumni to attend. However, there are not specific events planned for alumni themselves. Most alumni involvement is at another Chapter function were alumni are welcome to attend, if they would like. While still maintaining the open approach to alumni attending events such as recruitment, Greek Week, etc, I recommend the Chapter work in tandem with the Alumni Association to host regular alumni specific events. This is important for keeping alumni who may not be local or from different Chapters involved and engaged with the Chapter, but also important for maintaining that connection with alumni between major events such as a 45 th or 50 th year celebration. Continuing Education The Chapter currently hosts continuing education events regularly and is beginning to think outside the box while doing so, however most are geared towards professional development. While this is important and should remain a focus, there are also opportunities to incorporate other teachings through continuing education and take it to the next level. I recommend the Chapter host continuing education events covering personal development, history/ritual education, lifestyle development, or leadership development to name a few. Also, I recommend the continuing education chairmen explore ways to incorporate/work with other chairmen in the Chapter to host continuing education events (athletics, brotherhood, social/pr). Recruitment The Chapter does well with recruitment; however there is some room for improvement. I recommend the Chapter launch a rush scholarship and work with the Greek and Admissions office, as well as any local high schools that feed into the university to have the scholarship made known to incoming men. Currently, the Chapter does name generation with their new members, but only after they have been initiated. While this is still an effective strategy, I also recommend the Chapter host a post-game rush. After the new-members have been signed, I recommend the Chapter host a recruitment workshop for the new members to get them well versed on PIKE recruitment. I also recommend the Chapter name generate with these new members and host a follow up (post game) recruitment period to sign more men in the weeks following the formal bid day. With the recruitment scholarship, formal rush week, post game rush, and the final push after the new members have been initiated, the Chapter has now made four strong pushes throughout the semester in recruitment efforts.

3 Consultant Visitation Summary 3 Campus Involvement The Chapter has recently made a strong push for campus involvement. With members in several prominent student organizations on campus, the Chapter is very well represented. Currently, the Chapter boasts over 12 men in the orientation leader position, among other influential positions. I recommend the Chapter maintain the focus on campus involvement understanding not only the benefit it has for individual members, but also the positive light it sheds on the Chapter, the good graces it places the Chapter in with the university, as well as the excellent recruitment opportunities it provides.

Use the key at the bottom to measure your chapter s performance. Please note that recruitment, finances, international fraternity, and scholarship are weighted heavier (x 1¼) to illustrate importance of chapter programming in these areas.
