Hosted by Danny Hooper and Sharon Mallon, the 23 rd Annual Pilgrims Hospice Gala will be an inspiring and memorable evening featuring an elegant cocktail reception, gourmet dinner, entertainment and a few surprises in store! Pilgrims Hospice is the only Community Hospice in Edmonton providing supportive programming and services for those living with a life-limiting illness as well as their families and loved ones from diagnosis through bereavement. 3 PILGRIMS HOSPICE IS CHANGING LIVES Pilgrims Hospice provides compassionate care for individuals living with a terminal illness, enhancing the dignity and quality of life, until the end of life. Programming supports the whole family through the difficulties and grief the dying process and death of a loved one can bring: ADULT RESPITE DAY PROGRAM The Day Program is a unique community where people get together in a home-like environment. They share their experiences, often have a laugh, and find some relief just knowing that it s not all about dying - it s about living the last days of their lives. Clients receive therapeutic support through socializing, guest speakers, music therapy, pet therapy, art, and numerous other recreational activities. Delicious home cooked meals and snacks are also provided. Thank you for making it possible that there is this special place that I feel loved, cared for and valued. COMPASSIONATE COMPANIONS For those unable to leave home, this program provides: Home/Hospital/Hospice and Community Visits Emotional, Social and Spiritual Support Practical Assistance Life Review and Legacy Work Respite Care for the Family (pring caregiver burnout) End-of-Life Vigil Every Compassionate Companion volunteer is fully trained and carefully matched with a client, allowing each to feel comfortable with the other. Over time, a relationship of friendship and trust often develops. GRIEF SERVICES ADULT, INDIVIDUAL & FAMILY COUNSELLING When my husband died, life was very dark. The people at Pilgrims helped me to find hope and to know that I would be okay again someday. Pilgrims Hospice provides bereavement services for those anticipating a death, or have experienced the death, of a loved one. For adults, individual grief counselling and support groups give a safe space to share their stories and gain valuable tools and insights. The Expressive Arts for Grieving Children, Teens and Families Program includes support groups, individual and family counselling, summer day camps, plus art and music therapies. In the spirit and philosophy of hospice care, all programs and services are offered at no charge.* *The Adult Respite Day Program receives funding from Alberta Health Services, our funding agreement requires that we charge $10/visit.
