2 Hello Fellow Lions. This Lions year is winding down, so far I have had a wonderful year, long but exciting. I just returned from the Multiple N Convention in Antigonish, N.S. we had 187 Lions registered from NL, N.S. P.E.I, and New Brunswick. We all seem to be having the same problems; membership. Our membership is starting to rise, we started in July with 1249 members, and as of today, we now have 1266 members, with about eight or nine not yet inducted. Keep up the good work. Get your PU101 in so it will be easier for Lion Gail to do her Lions Directory. Make sure all info is up to date. I ask that the outgoing Presidents, Secretaries, and Treasurers please sit down for a few minutes and explain to the incoming officers what is expected of them, and how it should be done. For example, six months into the year we weren t getting reports from some clubs, and when contacted, they told me they didn t know they had to send monthly reports to D.G., 1stV.D.G, 2 nd V.D.G and etc. Congratulations to Daniel Reece, representing the C.B.S. Lions Club, coming in second place at the Multiple N Speakout in Antigonish, N.S. A job well done! Lion Morgan Pardy DG N4 District Governor Travels for June June 8t h, June 2 nd June 6 th, June 15 th, June 16 th, Health Science Lions Club English Hr. 3 FROM 1 ST VICE-DISTRICT GOVERNOR Lions, As I write this article, I am getting ready to leave for Antigonish, Nova Scotia. The training for incoming District Governors and Vice-District Governors will take place on the campus of St. FX. Following two days of workshops, I will be attending the Multiple District N Convention. It s always great to meet with Lions from other districts. My travelling is not over when I return from Nova Scotia. From June 7 9, my husband, Lion Jerry, and I are invited to visit Lions Foundation of Canada (the Dog Guides) in Oakville, Ontario. We will get a chance to participate in the Canine Challenge to gain a unique perspective on the school and how Dog Guides transform the lives of their handlers. The next day, we will travel to Breslau for the annual Memorial Forest Dedication Service. June 10, we re off the Marystown to join up with the Diabetes Cavalcade. Then, on June 16, it s off to Busan, Korea, for more training and the International Convention. Meanwhile, work goes on for getting ready for next Lions year in N4. A big thank you goes to the clubs who have sent donations for the directory. My CST, Lion Jennifer Hutchings, and I will be speaking to the printers of the directory as soon as I get back from the Multiple District convention. Last month I promised you some dates and places for meetings. This is what we have so far. Thanks to Lion Az Oram and his Global Leadership Team, there will be a workshop for Zone Chairs on June 3, in Sunnyside. Camp-A-Rama is always good fun. It will take place July at the Lion Max Simms Memorial Camp. The first Cabinet Meeting will take place on August 12, at the Bunyan s Cove Lions Club. More details will be sent later. Thank you to the clubs that have sent your PU101s to CST Jennifer and me. It is important that we get copies these reports. So far, only half of the clubs in the district have forwarded these reports to us. We need more than just a list of your club s board of directors. We need addresses, phone numbers and addresses too. That way you ll be sure to get any information we want to send to you. Yours in Lionism, Lion Gail

4 FROM: 2 ND VICE DISTRICT GOVERNOR Hi fellow Lions, Another month in Lionism has come and gone and we are now fast approaching year end. At this time I would like to remind all clubs that June 15 th is the deadline to file your PU 101 forms with International and the District. JUNE REMINDERS: June is Officer Installation Month June 05 June 09 June 10 June June 30 World Environment Day Helen Keller Day District Diabetes Cavalcade - GARNISH International Convention Busan Korea Deadline for all Donations for inclusion in year. A reminder that June 03 is the date of the Janeway Telethon and if you can spare some time to answer phones call Lion Claudette Coombs at or gccoombs@nf.sympatico.ca this is a very important fundraiser to a lot of children in our district. Coming up next month on July is the Camp-a- Rama at Lion Max Simms Memorial Camp, don t forget to register, hope to see you there. Yours in Lionism 2ndVD Governor Ray

5 RIDE TO THE MAX On August 18, 2012 motorcycle riders from Lions Clubs across the District N-4 will be leaving from the Goulds Lions Club and travelling to the LION MAX SIMMS MEMORIAL CAMP FOR SPECIAL NEEDS PEOPLE on the Bay D Espoir Highway in Bishops Falls. The purpose of the ride is to bring attention to the work of the Lion Max Simms Memorial Camp and to raise funds to assist with its operation. The Ride to the Max Committee would like to have your help to make this a successful project. We are asking all Lions, Lioness and Leo Clubs in District N-4 to check with their members who ride motorcycles and ensure that they are aware of the Ride. If your Club has a rider who will be participating, we are asking that you support that rider. If there is no rider in your Club or Zone you can still support the Ride to the Max by sending a donation to PDG Kevin Noseworthy, P.O. Box 449, Gambo, NL. A0G 1T0 or to Lion Ron Pond, P.O. Box 415 Glovertown, NL. A0G 2L0. Donations from Clubs and/or individuals are welcome. There are a number of activities planned for the weekend, including a silent auction, Texas Hold em, prizes for bikers with the most sponsors, etc. If you can secure some prize items we would appreciate it. You can send them to PDG Kevin or send them directly to the LMSMCamp, addressed to the Ride to the Max. For further information please contact PDG Kevin at or Kevin.noseworthy@investorsgroup.com Lion Ron Pond at or ronaldpond@nf.sympatico.ca

8 EDITOR S NOTE There is only one more bulletin for this Lion s year. If any club would like to have an item published please article to me by June 15/12 (pardyray@hotmail.com). I am sure that your Lion s Club has done some project throughout this year that you would like to share with the other clubs in your District. Lion Ray FOR YOUR INFORMATION FROM LIONS INTERNATIONAL Club Rebuilding and Reactivation Lions Clubs International offers multiple levels of support to help strengthen weak clubs and reactivate clubs that have been canceled or placed in status quo. These clubs usually need assistance in one or more of the following areas. Increase Membership: LCI offers several key strategies to help clubs recruit and retain members. Strengthen Leadership: The Lions Learning Center offers valuable courses on how to motivate members, develop effective teams, set goals and more. Support Meaningful Projects: The Planning Projects section has a wealth of creative ideas for sight, youth, environment and other meaningful projects. Improve Club Management: The club officer orientation program provides training and guidance for each position and connects the officers to the information they need.
