1 1. IN-APSE 2009 Board Elections Welcome to the first ever online IN-APSE Board elections! We want to thank you for taking the time to vote for the IN-APSE Board members who will be serving a three (3) year term from At the end of the voting process you will find a few questions regarding the voting process. We would love to hear your ideas and suggestions to improve the online voting process. Again, thank you for taking the time to vote and helping us go a bit "GREEN'er"! IN-APSE Nominating Committee * Please enter your IN-APSE membership number# or passcode (If you do not know your number or code please enter your last name and first initial) Below is a brief summary of the nominees for the 2009 IN-APSE Board elections. You will find the voting form at the end of the summaries. Linda Clouse Affiliation: Service Provider- Developmental Services, Inc Linda has been involved in the field of employment for over 23 years. She has worked at Developmental Services, Inc for all of these years, currently in the role as the Director of Quality Assurance/Employment Services. She is completing her second term on the IN-APSE Board of Directors and has been very involved during the years. In the past she has served as the Treasurer and presently is the Southern Vice-President of the board. Linda is also a CARF Surveyor. Linda is a true advocate for people with disabilities. She wants to see that all people can work and be a part of their community. She would continue to be a true asset to the IN-APSE Board of Directors Linda has a BS degree from Indiana University in Education. She taught a few years before entering the field of rehabilitation. She believes that all people should be treated equally and given a chance to abilities. She truly believes that all people have something to give and people need to see beyond a person s disabilities and see his/her abilities.

2 Vickie Lootens Affiliation: Service Provider Cardinal Services, Inc. I have a little more than 9 years experience in supported employment. I ve worn many hats in the program including job coaching, job developing, managing, and leading a transition leadership group developed by a coalition of adult service providers in partnership with Vocational Rehabilitation focused on improving transition services in Northern Indiana high schools. I ve expanded services to three counties over the past two years. Currently, I am the Northern Vice President and provide quarterly meetings/trainings for the northwest and northeast regions. I am also a current member on the INAPSE Conference Committee and sit on the IN-APSE Board of Directors. I helped develop a local Business Leadership Network in Kosciusko County which is rapidly growing. I won the Indiana Rebecca McDonald Award in 2008 and the National Rebecca McDonald Award in I possess that rare balance between organizational ability and compassion for people that results in great outcomes for people. I am diligent and highly dependable, traits necessary on a working board, and I demonstrated that the needs of the customer come before personal or agency needs. I have a bachelor in General Studies with an emphasis in Elementary and Special Education and am a Certified Employment and Benefits Specialist. I am very passionate about the vision of the transition from school to adult services. I believe being a leader and active member of my community and state will improve supported employment practice so that individuals and their communities will experience Supported Employment as a quality service with meaningful outcomes. Jennifer Malott Affiliation: Service Provider Vocational Rehabilitation Jennifer Jen recently joined the Region II VR team working as a Counselor in area 7. Prior to that, she spent nearly 5 years as an employment specialist for Park Center, Inc. s Assertive Community Treatment Team and Diatectic Behavioral Therapy Departments, which served individuals diagnosed with serious mental illnesses. She is a strong support of competitive jobs. She became interested in the field of supported employment after watching her father, David Malott, lead an employment transitions program for Michigan community schools for 30+ years. He currently consults for the State of Michigan s Department of Special Education Services. Jen attributes her success and knowledge to all she has learned from her father and they collaborate on a regular basis. They have recently begun working on a project to link School Summaries of Performance to Individualized Employment Plans through Voc Rehab in attempts to create a more seamless transition from school to VR. Jennifer is very interested in promoting employment for all disability groups. She has been active on IN-APSE s Public Policy committee and brings a special area of expertise on how to promote and improved employment for persons with mental illness. Jen received her bachelor s degree in Social Work in from Manchester College and a Master s degree in Social Work from Indiana University. She currently holds a License to Practice Social Work in the State of IN and will test for a Clinical Social Work License next April. She firmly believes in competitive employment for individuals with disabilities and fully intends on devoting her career to advancing these initiatives.

3 Carla Orr Affiliation: Service Provider- Adult and Child Services I have worked in supported employment field since I began serving Vocational Rehabilitation clients that suffered with Traumatic Brain Injury and then moved into another area of Vocational Rehabilitation Referrals. I began working with those who suffer from a mental health illness, addiction, and have had the pleasure to learn about and serve the homeless population. I have served on the INAPSE board, the conference committee and the public policy committee. Our agency has been an Employment Network since I have been a BIN liaison since our state started in I have participated with grants through DOL and DOE. Our agency also has SE staff on a grant called the Mental Health Treatment Study. I have been a member of the Mental Health Employment Network of Care in Marion County. I want to stay involved. I still have a lot to offer. I finished school in 1992 at IU in Bloomington, that in and of itself is a huge accomplishment for me!! I have worked hard for my employer and with my colleagues to serve those with disabilities in order to help them find work and maximize their earnings as much as they possibly can. Eve Pressnell Affiliation: Service Provider- Gateway Services Hi! My name is Eve C. Pressnell-Moore and I currently work in Employment Services at Gateway Services. My role is Assistant Director and my primary responsibilities include interviewing and training new staff. Developing, refining and implementing new policies and procedures. I have created and drafted new documents to establish a standardized means of documenting client activities and history. Serving as a representative of the agency in Supported Employment Resource Group (SERG), Transition Councils in Johnson and Bartholomew Counties, the Kiwanis Club of Greenwood and AKtion Club for Johnson County. Professional career includes Human Resources and Retail Management that included employee training and stock inventory and replenishment. I was hired with Gateway Services in December 1998 as an Employment Advisor providing services in; Residential Living, Community HAB, Service Coordination, and Community Employment. A satellite office placed the responsibility of Co-Team Leader moving up to my current position within the agency in January My educational background includes a Bachelors Degree in Social Behavior and Science, which I obtained from IUPUI May I have completed the Employment Services training in I have attended INARF and INAPSE training which are geared to serve targeted populations. I participated in a Grant to provide services to the Deaf population, where I acquired additional American Sign Language skills. I had also participated in a community based class for three years prior to the Grant, so I was able to increase my knowledge in this area. I have a tremendous passion for what I do. My goal is to never stop advocating for and with those I serve. Nominator writes..."she has been very involved and helpful on the conference committee for the last two years. 4 Patti Sebanc Affiliation: Service Provider- Sycamore Services As Director of Special Projects at Sycamore Services, Patti has over 17 years of experience working with individuals with disabilities in various roles. She has been involved in the development and supervision of transition programs for Sycamore Services. Patti is involved in several new initiatives at Sycamore Services including the transition projects, Project Search and Employment services. In her years of experience, she has assisted with Residential Services, Employment Services, Community and Day Services and the development of new programs. Patti also serves on the Board of Directors for IN-APSE and is currently the Co-President. Patti s number of years as an E.C. and then in management of Employment programs offers experience and desire to make sure that individuals with disabilities have opportunities to work. Patti has a degree from Purdue University and has worked in several positions assisting individuals obtaining and maintaining employment. For the past 17 years, Employment services has been part of position as either E.C. or as Director of Programs relating to the employment. Recently was instrumental in starting Project Search for her agency, has been part of the Steering Committee for two Transition grants for the past 3 years. Tim White Affiliation: Service Provider Noble of Indiana I have been involved in various ways with employment and other supports for people with disabilities for 17 years. I have been an Employment Consultant, a manager of both large and small SE programs, and currently a Director of a large SE program. I have a master s degree in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling. I have been involved either directly or indirectly with the placement of many people with disabilities in community employment, of which a large percentage was their first experience in community employment. I have been a strong advocate for community employment thus far over my seventeen year career, and plan to continue that advocacy over the remainder of my career. Being a board member for IN APSE will be natural forum for doing just that. Finally, I have demonstrated my proven leadership skills over my career thus far, which will go hand in hand with my desire to be an advocate.
