She uses her excellent understanding of children's development to plan stimulating activities that help all children to make outstanding progress in all areas of their learning. The childminder is highly skilled at interacting with the children and managing their behaviour. Children develop very good communication and language skills, and are extremely confident and sociable. For example, they learn to resolve minor disagreements through conversations and frequently use good manners. The childminder develops exceptionally strong partnerships with parents. She keeps them fully informed about their children's progress and involved in their learning. The childminder values parents' input and promotes exceptional continuity for children's care and learning. This has a significant impact on children's well-being. The childminder is highly committed to her professional development. She attends regular training to enhance her excellent teaching skills. The childminder works extremely closely with other early years settings and professionals. This greatly contributes to maintaining high standards, meeting children's individual needs and improving the outstanding practice. The childminder provides a welcoming, rich, well-resourced and stimulating learning environment. Children are extremely well engaged, motivated and eager to learn.

2 Inspection report: 18 April of 5 What the setting needs to do to improve further To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should: provide even more opportunities for children to build on their keen interest in technology. Inspection activities The inspector observed activities and the impact of teaching on children's learning in the indoor and outdoor areas. The inspector looked at a sample of records, and discussed planning, children's assessments and their welfare. The inspector checked the records of suitability checks for the childminder and other household members, and the childminder's qualifications. The inspector discussed self-evaluation with the childminder. The inspector took account of the views of parents, given in their written feedback to the childminder. Inspector Dawn Biggers

3 Inspection report: 18 April of 5 Inspection findings Effectiveness of the leadership and management is outstanding The childminder has an excellent understanding of all the requirements of her role. Her highly reflective practice means she thoroughly evaluates her provision to make improvements. For example, following training, the childminder has improved sensory experiences for two-year-olds to improve their language and all-round learning. She uses parents' feedback to make improvements, such as introducing more games to strengthen children's social skills in readiness for school. The childminder promotes the best possible outcomes for children's progress. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder's comprehensive knowledge of procedures and current safeguarding practice is up to date. The childminder uses thorough risk assessments exceptionally well to provide a very safe and secure environment. Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding The childminder is extremely knowledgeable and uses her wealth of experience and training to plan a superb range of exciting learning experiences. Children are animated and show high levels of focus and enthusiasm as they investigate the texture and feel of herbs, before planting these. The childminder responds exceptionally well to children's interests and challenges their thinking further. Children develop excellent communication and language skills. The childminder uses highly effective questioning, commentary and rhyme as they play. The childminder is keen to develop children's experiences with information and communication technology. Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding Children are extremely settled and relaxed with very secure relationships, which supports their physical and emotional needs exceptionally well. The childminder is an exemplary role model and children learn excellent behaviour, and hygienic and safe practices. They develop high levels of independence and self-esteem as the childminder's very clear explanations support their understanding. For example, children know how to use and carry scissors safely and they state that the oven gets 'hot' during role play. Children develop excellent social skills and positive attitudes towards healthy lifestyles. They participate in frequent exercise, drink regularly and choose nutritious snacks. Children learn about the wider world and community, and their individual needs and backgrounds are highly respected. Outcomes for children are outstanding Children are very confident learners, who show high levels of interest and concentration. They develop their mathematical understanding exceptionally well through creative and enjoyable games. For example, they compare lengths, put lily pads in number order and know that one more than five is six. Children recognise initial sounds of words and practise writing their names. They gain exceptional skills which prepare them very well for future learning and for moving on to school.

The childminder offers care Monday to Thursday, from 7.30am to 6pm, throughout the year.
