3 Page 3 RESEARCH EXPERIENCE Project Director Cancer Support Group Project Shelley Taylor, Ph.D. and I received a three-year grant from the National Cancer Institute to conduct a more elaborate and well controlled version of a preliminary project on cancer support groups. Co-Principal Investigator Long Beach V.A. Medical Center Compliance in Dialysis Patients Research Associate Post-Therapy Support Program This is a clinical -research project for clients who have been in a sexual relationship with their psychotherapist. Research Associate Cancer Support Group Co-designed and conducted a preliminary investigation of differences between regular attenders of cancer support groups and dropouts. This study served as my Master s thesis. Research Associate Vulnerability to Schizophrenia Project Director: Ernest Hartmann, M.D., Tufts University. My Work is currently on a consultation basis. Research Assistant Self-Help Group Development Project. Director: Gerald Goodman, Ph.D., U.C.L.A. Department of Psychology. I was responsible for piloting an audiotape program which teaches basic communication and helping skills. Research Assistant 1981 Arthritis and Coping Project Director: Jane Spiegel, M.D., U.C.L.A. Medical Center. In this study, we compared differential effects of psychodynamic group therapy with cognitivebehavioral strategies on Adjustment to rheumatoid arthritis. Research Assistant Sleep and Dream laboratory Boston State Hospital. Director Ernest Hartmann, M.D. The research primarily dealt with sleep disorders and hypnotic medications. Research Assistant Schizophrenia Laboratory Boston State Hospital. Director: Ernest Hartman, M.D. The aim of the study was to identify potential childhood markers of vulnerability to schizophrenia.
