6 Regulatins and Qualificatins Peer Recvery Mentrs are registered by either the Addictin Cunselr Certificatin Bard f Oregn r the Oregn Health Authrity s Traditinal Health Wrker Prgram T becme a Peer Recvery Mentr yu must cmplete an OHA apprved 40 hur training curse, have at least 2 years f cntinuus recvery and pass a DHS backgrund check Peer Recvery Mentrs must get re-certified every 2 years, including cmpletin f 20 hurs f cntinuing educatin

10 Barriers Many peers have never wrked in a prfessinal envirnment. This can becme intimidating fr sme peers and yu may find they need prfessinal grming nce they btain a psitin within yur rganizatin. Dcumenting in Epic/EMR access is nt readily available t Peers s transferring secure inf can be difficult but there are ways arund this Addictin peers are in recvery as well, s it is gd fr them t have a Peer supervisr t help them create self-care plans Persnal Experience can draw a very clear line in the sand when serving peers in active addictin. Fr example race, prisn, criminal, gang experience r lack f it. S it's best t have a range f peer types.

11 Peer Integratin and Supervisin Systems are still figuring this ut Ideally, peers are cntracted frm a peer agency where they can receive supervisin, training and supprt utside f the health care team Peers are best utilized if they can als wrk in the cmmunity utside f the clinic r hspital as a way t ensure cntinued supprt and engagement- Recvery is a jurney!
