A key vision for the HMP Liverpool Integrated Recovery Services is the promotion of visible recovery and the successful re-integration of service users leaving treatment into meaningful education, training and employment opportunities. This can begin with the provision of highly skilled and well trained Service User Reps, Recovery Graduates and Volunteers to support Service Users in accessing recovery and re-integration services in the community. The post holder will recruit, train, supervise & co-ordinate peer mentors and volunteers within the CGL framework to ensure the provision of quality services. With support from the Regional Peer Mentor and Volunteer Coordinator, the post holder will take a lead on the co-ordination of service user involvement, peer mentors and volunteers within the HMP Liverpool Service. The post holder will work with existing service user groups, in addition to developing additional groups as required, in order to promote and support HMP Liverpool 1

2 meaningful service user involvement within the service delivery. Recovery Graduates and Volunteers will form part of the multi-disciplinary team and will be involved in providing peer support services at HMP Liverpool. The post holder will be responsible for the development of partnerships with the wider community network and Community Groups to engage and establish links and a presence of Recovery Activities within that wider community. The post holder will assist the Peer Mentor & Volunteer Coordinator in the training and development of Service User Reps, Recovery Graduates and Volunteers at HMP Liverpool. The post holder will pro-actively support the development, promotion and assertive linkage to mutual aid networks that come into HMP Liverpool. The post holder will be responsible for working with the Management Team within the community to identify key opportunities for the identification, development and growth of social enterprise, CIC and other innovative practice to promote independent Recovery options for individuals leaving treatment including volunteering to support this area with a specific focus on clients successfully leaving treatment and purposeful re-integration. Key Activities: To develop and maintain the co-ordination of an effective service user involvement, peer mentor and volunteer training and placement scheme within the HMP Liverpool DARS Integrated Recovery Service To identify, recruit, train, supervise & co-ordinate volunteers and peer mentors in accordance with CGL policies, frameworks and procedures. Liaise with the Management Team to identify Recovery Graduates and volunteering requirements that will compliment service delivery and serve to reduce relapse and re-offending this will include provision of peer led services and community programmes to support service users to reintegrate successfully into the community. Establish, promote and develop assertive linkage with Community groups and organisations including the voluntary and faith sector HMP Liverpool 2

3 Act as the conduit to indentify existing untapped funding streams to assist Service Users and Peer Mentors in the development of Social enterprise activities and Community Interest related development Develop robust partnership working arrangements with the respective treatment partnership, Criminal Justice agencies and providers of other specialist and non specialist services to promote Recovery Graduating and volunteering roles at HMP Liverpool and wider mainstream settings. Assist with the delivery and development of Group based education interventions and workshops including Foundations of Recovery Produce reports on the activity and effectiveness of the development across the service. Engage proactively with both line management and supervision and maintain a current knowledge of appropriate interventions. To ensure that all safeguarding issues, including child protection and protection of vulnerable adults, are dealt with in accordance with CGL policies and procedures and local and national guidance and legislation. To Provide recovery coaching using a broad range of psychosocial interventions including therapeutic and educational group work To recognise personal and professional boundaries and work within CGL s clinical governance framework at all times To implement and participate in staff rotas to ensure the service is appropriately staffed according to commissioning requirements. Present a professional image and actively promote the service at all times to service users, other stakeholders, partnership organisations and the general public. General terms of reference: In carrying out the above duties the post holder will: Work flexibly across operational sites as required. Work flexibly within an agreed number of hours of work to maintain the most appropriate level of service provision. Link with different areas of operational delivery including outreach, harm reduction services including NEX, Tier 3 clinical and non clinical services, GP shared care, criminal justice services and aftercare Seek to improve personal performance, contribution, knowledge and skills. Actively participate in appraisal, supervision and Learning & Development processes and be willing to personally reflect on work and capabilities Keep abreast of developments in services, legislation and practice relevant to the relevant client group. 4 Undertake other duties appropriate to the grade of the post and as instructed by the management team Person Specification Essential criteria: Hold a relevant qualification including a minimum DANOS Level 3 and/or at least two years experience working with substance misusers Experience of or the proven ability to manage and supervise Staff, Recovery Graduates / volunteers. Evidence of a commitment to Service User involvement and development. Experience of developing and delivering training packages or group work programmes. Proven leadership skills. Experience of contributing to project development. Experience of providing support in accessing Education, Training & Employment pathways for service users. Experience of auditing to inform evaluation and service development. Understanding of the need for and ability to deliver quality services. Experience of risk assessment and risk management procedures. Experience of working effectively with external agencies. Knowledge of the issues facing substance misusers and offenders, their families and carers. Demonstrate an understanding of Equal Opportunities and Diversity. Demonstrable administrative and IT skills. And the ability to: Maintain professional boundaries. Train Service Users in managing the development of SMART recovery/care plans. HMP Liverpool 4
