1 Please Join Us!!! 2018 Summer Institute on Trauma- Informed Schools and Practitioners THE WYOMING SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGY ASSOCIATION PRESENTS: Our 2018 Summer Institute focusing on trauma-informed schools and best practices for supporting students who have experienced adverse childhood experiences. We are pleased to announce Zackary Adams, Ph.D. and Carla Danielson, Ph.D. as our presenters on trauma-informed practices in schools. 2 Day 1 Featuring Zackary Adams, Ph.D. Dr. Adams is an Assistant Professor and licensed health service provider in psychology in the Indiana University Department of Psychiatry. His clinical and research interests center on improving care and promoting healthy outcomes for young people with cooccurring mental health and substance use problems, with a particular emphasis on youth and families impacted by trauma and adversity. Additionally, he is strongly committed to teaching students, interns, residents, fellows and involving trainees in all aspects of his team s work. Much of his research falls into two broad categories. His first set of projects focuses on refining our understanding of how co-occurring mental health problems develop in childhood and adolescence, particularly among youth exposed to violence, disasters, and other traumatic and adverse events. His teams accomplish this through a variety of methods ranging from laboratory-based studies investigating neurocognitive and psychosocial mechanisms associated with mental health and substance use problems to large-scale epidemiological surveys characterizing how common certain experiences are and what factors are associated with those experiences. His second set of projects involves developing and testing new intervention models (such as therapies that target multiple problems in an integrative fashion) and technology-based tools (mobile applications, web-based platforms) to make mental health treatments more efficient, accessible, and effective for youth and families. Dr. Adams is currently supported through an NIH/NIDA Career Development Award (5K23DA038257; M-Health Tools to Enhance Treatment of Teen Substance Use and Mental Illness). Dr. Adams clinical interests include evidence-based psychotherapy for child and adolescent mental health problems, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), adolescent substance use treatment, and integrated treatments for co-occurring psychiatric and substance use disorders. Dr. Adams is a TF-CBT Certified therapist.

3 Day 2 and 3 Featuring Carla Danielson, Ph.D. Dr. Danielson is a professor and director of the Invictus Lab at the National Crime Victims Research and Treatment Center (NCVC) in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science at the Medical University of South Carolina. Her research interests focus on treatment and prevention with high-risk adolescent and traditionally underserved populations, including basic and translational science studies that inform such applied clinical research. In the area of treatment, her current program of research, funded by a NIDA R01 award (R01DA031285), involves the evaluation of Risk Reduction through Family Therapy (RRFT), an ecologically-based intervention targeting substance abuse, trauma-related psychopathology, and HIV-risk behaviors among adolescent trauma victims. In the area of prevention, Dr. Danielson is the PI and Program Director on the SAMHSA-funded EMPOWERR Program (1U79SP015156), which focuses on prevention of HIV and substance abuse among local ethnic minority adolescents. She serves as PI on an NIAAA-funded Alcohol Research Center Clinical Research Component (P50 AA010761; Center PI: Becker), which is a 5-year lab-based study, examining the relation between acute stress and drinking behavior in trauma and non-trauma exposed emerging adults, as well as an NIMH-funded study (R21MH086313) focusing on the identification of mechanisms underlying the development of PTSD, substance abuse, and other high risk behaviors among disaster-exposed teens. Finally, Dr. Danielson is actively involved in the training of future researchers, mentoring NCVC predoctoral and postdoctoral fellows and serving as Training Director and Co-PI on a T32 grant (T32MH ). Dr. Danielson is a national trainer for Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).

5 Conference Details Invited Participants: Due to the nature of this training, this conference is open to licensed, certified, and graduate trainees in clinical and school-based mental health agencies only. School psychologists, school counselors, school social workers, licensed psychologists, counselors, social workers, and graduate students are encouraged to attend. Registration Fee: $ per participant. Registration is for all three days. Partial registration will not be accepted. Full registration cancellations will be accepted until 07/30/2018. CEUs: WSPA is a NASP- and PTSB-approved provider for professional development. Participants will earn 21 professional development hours for attendance. All other participants must contact their licensing boards for credit. TF-CBT Certification: Participants who attend Days 2 and 3 in their entirety will leave with the ability to utilize TF-CBT in their clinical work either in a school-based, clinical, or hospital setting. Additionally, participants who complete Days 2 and 3 will be eligible to pursue national certification as a TF-CBT provider. Certificates of Attendance will be provided at the conclusion of the conference.
