ORCID: Open Researcher and Contributor ID Non-profit supported by global community of organizational members: Research organizations Publishers Funders Professional associations Other stakeholders in research ecosystem Use ORCID Registry to create ORCID identifier, manage record of activities, and search for others in Registry ORCID Registry is free to individuals 3

4 Why ORCID? Links your research output and ensures all of your work is recognized as yours Registering is totally free and takes less than a minute to get your ORCID number Many publishers already require an ORCID Many funding agencies will soon require an ORCID when applying for a grant 4

7 Trust Individual Adding a trusted individual: ORCID knowledgebase The trusted individual (delegate) feature is used to grant permission to another ORCID user to update your ORCID Record on your behalf. Trusted individuals have access to your ORCID record, and will be able to edit any information on and make connections with external systems. 7

10 Importing Works from BibTeX Files Available in Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer 10+ ORCID has created a tool that allows you to import citations from BibTeX (.bib) files into your ORCID record, including files exported from Google Scholar and other popular citation management tools. Specific information about importing Google Scholar Citations can be found in ORCID s Knowledge Base 10

11 Importing Works from BibTeX Files In Works Section of your record, go to Add Words then Import BibTeX In the view that opens, click Choose File When your computer's file browser opens, select a BibTeX (.bib) file from your computer and click open The publications from the file will appear in a list with Save/Delete icons beside them: IMPORTANT! Your import is not complete until you have saved each of the publications that you wish to add to your ORCID record 11

Your import is not complete until you have saved each of the publications that you wish to add to your ORCID record. To save a citation to your record, click the SAVE icon. You will be prompted to edit the citation. After making any needed changes, click ADD TO LIST to save the citation to your ORCID record. 12
