3 General Information COURSE DESCRIPTION This two-day course will provide a multidisciplinary perspective and discussion on the management of complex clinical challenges in cardiovascular medicine and surgery. Topics that will be covered include coronary artery disease, valve disease, anticoagulation, peripheral vascular disease, and cardiovascular debates. Faculty including leading clinicians in surgery and medicine from Mayo Clinic and the Minnesota Chapter of the American College of Cardiology (MN- ACC) will contribute to this discussion. This event will also be the 2010 Annual Meeting of the Minnesota Chapter of the ACC. COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to: Identify the key aspects of optimal medical management and the current indications for optimal medical management versus percutaneous coronary intervention in the treatment of patients with stable coronary artery disease. Identify limitations of percutaneous coronary intervention in the treatment of patients with severe coronary artery disease. List the benefit that multiple arterial graft revascularizations offer with respect to coronary artery bypass graft survival. Attendance at this Mayo course does not indicate nor guarantee competence or proficiency in the performance of any procedures which may be discussed or taught in this course. CREDIT College of Medicine, Mayo Clinic, is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. This activity has been approved for 10 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Other Health Care Professionals A record of attendance will be provided to other health care professionals for requesting credits in accordance with state nursing boards, specialty societies, or other professional associations. CANCELLATION POLICY If you cancel your participation in this course, your registration fee, less a $75 administrative fee, will be refunded when written notification is received by the Mayo School of CPD before April 23, 2010 ( cme@mayo.edu or FAX#: ). No refunds will be made after April 23, Mayo School of CPD reserves the right to cancel or postpone any course due to unforeseen circumstances. 4 General Information LODGING ACCOMMODATIONS Controversies in Cardiovascular Disease will be held May 8-9, Course headquarters will be located at the Saint Paul Hotel, 350 Market Street, in downtown St. Paul, Minnesota. The Saint Paul Hotel, known for its oldworld charm and European inspired elegance, provides an intimate venue for a weekend of continuing medical education and entertainment in the Twin Cities. SOCIAL ACTIVITY On Saturday evening, join us at the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts for a performance of Rodgers and Hammerstein s South Pacific. Considered by many the finest musical ever written, the South Pacific score includes such musical theater classics as Some Enchanted Evening, Younger Than Springtime, Bali Ha i, There is Nothin Like A Dame and A Wonderful Guy. A block of seats has been reserved for this 7:30 p.m. performance. Tickets can be reserved for $80 per seat when registering for this course and will be distributed onsite with your course materials.
