1 五 Differentiation on Kidney and U.B. The kidney is in charge of the production and reproduction of the body, the metabolism of body fluid as well. The key symptoms of kidney problem are lumbago, dizziness and vertigo, alopecia (baldness), shaken teeth, nocturnal emission, premature ejaculation, or impotence, edema, dyspnea and irregular defecation and urination.

2 ( 一 )Kidney essence deficiency It refers to the kidney essence deficiency s to promote the function of production and reproduction in the development of body. The retarded growth in children with smaller physique, late closure of fontanel, being blunt in mentality, softening in bones, or presenility in adult, alopecia (baldness), shaken teeth, tinnitus and deaf, insomnia and amnesia, or oligospermia or amenorrhea, lowered sexual function, pale tongue with thread and feeble pulse. 1 kidney essence deficiency, lower function 2 retarded growth in children and lowered sexual function in adult 3 retarded growth in children and pre-senility in adult due to essence deficiency, oligospermia and amenorrhea are due to hypo function of sexual activities.

3 ( 二 )Kidney Yin deficiency It refers to the kidney Yin deficiency fails to nourish the body, and produces deficient heat. Dizziness and tinitus, lassitude in the loins and knee, amnesia, alopecia (baldness), shaken teeth, nocturnal emission, priapism, little amount of menses bleeding, amenorrhea, or metrorrhagia and metrostaxis, five center heat, flushing in zygomatic region and night sweating, steaming fever, emaciated physique, yellow and scanty urine, red tongue without coating, thread and rapid pulse. 1 kidney Yin deficiency and produces deficient heat 2 kidney symptoms and deficient heat 3 five center heat, flushing in zygomatic region and night sweating, steaming fever, emaciated physique, yellow and scanty urine, red tongue without coating, thread and rapid pulse. 4 Dizziness and tinitus, lassitude in the loins and knee, amnesia, alopecia (baldness), shaken teeth, nocturnal emission, priapism, little amount of menses bleeding, amenorrhea, or metrorrhagia and metrostaxis

4 ( 三 )Kidney Yang deficiency It refers to the kidney Yang deficiency failure in warming the body and Qi s changing. Lassitude in the loins and knee, aversion to cold and cold extremities especially in the legs, pale or dark complexion, listless, dilute urine or enuresis; in male impotence or sterility due to the cold sperm, or in female inability of pregnancy due to cold uterus, or or decreased sexual desire; or chronic diarrhea, or morning diarrhea; or edema( severe under waist), sinks after pressing or even abdominal distension, palpitation and asthma, pale and enlarged tongue with white and slippery coating, deep, slow and weak pulse. 辨证要点 : 1 以肾阳亏虚, 温煦 气化失常为主要病机 2 以性与生殖机能减退, 畏寒肢冷, 腰膝痠冷等虚寒症状并见为辨证依据 3 有面色白光白, 或黧黑, 神疲乏力, 舌淡胖苔白滑, 脉沉迟无力等虚寒的表现 4 有男子阳痿不举, 精冷不育, 女子宫寒不孕, 性欲减退 ; 小便清长, 夜尿多, 大便久泄不止, 五更泄泻 ; 浮肿, 按之凹陷不起, 甚则腹部胀满, 心悸咳喘等肾病症状

Lassitude in the loins and knee, listless, tinnitus, frequent and dilute urination, or dripping urine, or polyuria at night, or enuresis, or loose control of urine; or in male spermatorrhea or premature ejaculation; in female thin and profuse leukorrhea or threatened abortion, pale tongue with deep and feeble pulse. 1 kidney Qi deficiency failure in consolidation 2 unconsolidation of kidney and U.B. 3 frequent and dilute urination, or dripping urine, or polyuria at night, or enuresis, or loose control of urine; or in male spermatorrhea or premature ejaculation; in female thin and profuse leukorrhea or threatened abortion 4 listless, tinitus, pale tongue

6 ( 五 )Kidney Qi failing in receiving It refers to the kidney Qi deficiency failure in receiving Lung Qi. Chronic asthma, inspiring shorter than expiring, dyspnea aggravated by movement, lassitude in loins and knee, spontaneous sweating, lower voice, pale tongue and white coating, deep and weak pulse. In severe asthma, sudden profuse cold sweating, cold extremities and blue complexion, floating and big pulse without root; or dyspnea, flushing at zygomatic region and night sweating, irritability, five center heat, red tongue without coating, thread and rapid pulse. 1kidney Qi deficiency failure in receiving Lung Qi. 2Chronic asthma, inspiring shorter than expiring, dyspnea aggravated by movement are the main differentiating points. 3lassitude in loins and knee, spontaneous sweating, lower voice, pale tongue and white coating 4 可兼有肾阴虚证或肾阳虚证的症状特点, 若兼喘息, 肢冷面青者为肾阳不足所致 ; 若兼见气息短促, 颧红, 盗汗, 五心烦热等症者为肾阴亏虚所致

7 ( 六 ) Damp heat retention in bladder It refers to the damp heat remains in the Bladder, and fails in Qi s changing. Frequent and urgent micturation accompanied with burning pain in urethra, hematuria, calculi in urine, or turbid urine, yellow and scanty urine, distending pain in the lower abdomen, or fever, pain in the waist, red tongue with yellow greasy coating, slippery and rapid pulse. 1 damp heat remains in the Bladder, and fails in Qi s changing 2 Frequent and urgent micturation 3 Frequent and urgent micturation accompanied with burning pain in urethra, hematuria, calculi in urine, or turbid urine, yellow and scanty urine due to U.B. problem. 4 fever, pain in the waist, red tongue with yellow greasy coating, slippery and rapid pulse due to damp heat.
