10 Precum (from Cowpers gland) Friday, 11 January 13 One of the first signs of arousal in a man is the production of precum from the Cowpers gland (with some fluid being contributed by the prostate). Cowpers is located just under the prostate. Precum is formed before erection. It has an alkalia ph and is thought to help neutralise the acidity of the vagina as well as provide lubrication. Precum usually stops when the penis is erect and so if a man become erect quickly, he may not produce (or notice) much precum.

The plateau stage is often very brief in men with P.E. Orgasm A sense of ejaculatory inevitability (point of no return) During orgasm, a man experiences rapid, rhythmic contractions of the anal sphincter, the prostate, and the muscles of the penis. The sperm are transmitted up the vas deferens from the testicles, into the prostate gland as well as through the seminal vesicles to produce what is known as semen. The prostate produces a secretion that forms one of the components of ejaculate. Contraction of the sphincter and prostate force stored semen to be expelled through the penis's urethral opening. The process takes from three to ten seconds, and is generally considered to be highly pleasurable. Normally, as a man ages, the amount of semen he ejaculates diminishes, and so does the duration of orgasms. This does not normally affect the intensity of pleasure, but merely shortens the duration.

After ejaculation, the hormone prolactin is usually released which makes you feel all relaxed and cosy and contributes to a refractory period, during which a man cannot achieve another orgasm. This can last anywhere from less than a minute to several hours, depending on age and other individual factors. Sensation As a man nears orgasm during stimulation of the penis, he feels an intense and highly pleasurable pulsating sensation of neuromuscular euphoria. These pulses begin with a throb of the anal sphincter and travel to the tip of the penis. They eventually increase in speed and intensity as the orgasm approaches, until a final "plateau" of pleasure sustained for several seconds, the orgasm. During orgasm, semen is ejaculated and may continue to be ejaculated for a few seconds after the euphoric sensation gradually tapers off. It is believed that the exact feeling of "orgasm" varies from one man to another, but most agree that it is highly pleasurable.

The end of the corpus spongiosum forms the glans. The glans is covered by a prepuce or foreskin to keep it moist and help maintain sensitivity. The glans is richly supplied with nerve endings and so direct stimulation can be painful. The base of the glans is often enlarged forming the coronal ridge. The average circumference or girth is 4.9 inches at the widest point, which is most often around the rim of the coronal ridge. A penis whose foreskin is covering the glans will obviously appear to be thicker at this point than when the foreskin is pulled back. Men of African decent are on average half an inch longer, and Asians on average half an inch shorter. Seventy five percent of all penises are between 5.25 and 7.25 inches long. By this standard, half of all erect white penises are less than 5.9 inches. Unfortunately for some of you perhaps, the other half are longer than 5.9 inches - but not by much. Only 40% of white men have a penis longer than 6 inches; only 30% have one longer than 6.25 inches, and by the time you get to 7.75 inches, you're down to 2% of men. Size and firmness of erection will fluctuate markedly during sexual arousal.
