Kuvings Silent Juicer ANALYSIS REPORT
ANALYSIS REPORT on the performance of a Silent Juicer vs a Centrifugal Juicer Analysis Organization Korea Advanced Food Research Institute(KAFR) - Tomato(Feb. 2012), Carrot(Sep. 2011) Traditional Microorganism Resources Center(TMR) - Broccoli(Sep. 2011), Grape(Nov. 2011) Analysis result Test Items Fruits NUC Centrifugal Juicer (CJ) Kuvings Silent Juicer (SJ) Tomato Vitamin C ( mg /100g) Carrot β-carotene ( μg /100g) Carrot Soluble dietary fiber (%) Broccoli Flavonoid ( mg /g) Grape Flavonoid ( mg /g) None 0.1 (100mg/100g) 0.4 (400mg/100g)
Tomato(Korea) Vitamin C Vitamin C ( mg /100g) Tomato NUC Centrifugal Juicer Kuvings Silent Juicer Juice from SJ has Vitamin C 5.2 times more than juice from CJ. Vitamin C in the juice from CJ might be destroyed by metal blades and heat of CJ. Oxidation might be another reason for the low vitamin C. CJ makes lots of air, which causes the fast oxidation. The reason why vitamin C from fruits is lower than from SJ is that the vitamin C from fruits is not be absorbed into body better than from SJ. It is known that you can absorb 17% of nutrition value when you eat fruits and 67% when you drink juice. Adults need 75mg of Vitamin C a day One cup(200ml) of juice from SJ can meet 25%(18.78mg) of amount you need a day 2 11
Tomato(Korea) Vitamin C Korea Advanced Food Research Institute(KAFR) - Feb
Carrot(Korea) β-carotene β -carotene ( μg /100g) Carrot NUC Centrifugal Juicer Kuvings Silent Juicer β-carotene is changed to Vitamin A in the body, which is good for eye and bone health. Fruits has the highest value of β -carotene is fat solubility so juice from juicers do not have better value. β-carotene is not be destroyed by metal and heat so the results are similar between SJ and CJ. SJ is still better though. Adults need 520RE(Male)/450RE(Female) a day. - B-carotene is changed to Vitamin A, 1RE = 6 μg B-carotene. - A cup(200ml) of carrot juice can meet 78% for men and 90% for women of amount that adults need a day. 4 11
Carrot(Korea) β-carotene Korea Advanced Food Research Institute(KAFR) - Sep
Carrot(Korea) Soluble dietary fiber (%) Carrot 0 Soluble dietary fiber 0.1 NUC Centrifugal Juicer 0.4 Kuvings Silent Juicer Soluble dietary fiber can be dissolved in water and forms a gel-like consistency in the digestive tract. So it is known to good to prevent you from constipation, colorectal cancer, diabetes. It appears that Soluble dietary fiber is beneficial in lowering your cholesterol. To intake the Soluble dietary fiber from fruits, we need to eat many fruits. Accordingly we would eat much pulp. If you drink juice from SJ, it would be easier way to intake the Soluble dietary fiber of Carrot. 6 11
Carrot(Korea) Soluble dietary fiber Korea Advanced Food Research Institute(KAFR) - Sep
Broccoli(Korea) Flavonoid Flavonoid ( mg /g) Broccoli NUC Centrifugal Juicer Kuvings Silent Juicer Juice from SJ has Flavonoid about 1.5 times more than fruit and juice from CJ. Flavonoid include a lot of functional composition such as anthocyanin, catechin and isoflavone. Beneficial effects of flavonoids on human health are partly explained by their antioxidant activity. Because of the antioxidative property, it is suggested that flavonoids may delay or prevent the onset of diseases (such as cancer) induced by free radicals. Flavonoids have been reported to have negative correlation with incidence of coronary heart disease. Furthermore, flavonoids have anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-tumor, anti-inflammatory, antiallergenic, and vasodilatory effect. They also inhibit platelet aggregation. 8 11
Broccoli(Korea) Flavonoid Traditional Microorganism Resources Center(TMR) Sep
MBA Grape(Korea) Flavonoid Flavonoid ( mg /g) Grape NUC Centrifugal Juicer Kuvings Silent Juicer Juice from SJ has the highest value of flavonoid, as a result of extract juice from grape skin and seed. Antocyanin and Catechin in the grapes are representative flavonoid compound. Generally, effect of antioxidation from Antocyanin was 5 times more than the others. Flavonoid appears to improve absorption of vitamin C. Concurrent flavonid may aid in the absorption of Vitamin C dietary supplements. It will be better to intake the antioxidation components such as resveratrol from grape seeds, if you drink juice from SJ
