2 WHAT IS VIOGERM? Wheat germs are the most valuable part of wheat. The high content of unsaturated fatty acids in wheat germs limits their shelf life. Therefore, the wheat germ is removed during fl our production. 7 PRODUCTION OF VIOGERM For more than 100 years, the HOCHDORF Group continuously pursues the idea of using innovative technologies to extract from nature the best raw materials suitable for industrial processing and nutrition purposes. In 1946, Peter Meyer developed an ingenious process: the biological retention after Meyer (BRM), a sophisticated and gentle method for the stabilization of wheat germ. During the pressing, the surface oxidation and susceptible wheat germ oil is obtained from the fresh germ, which is purifi ed and upgraded with other processes. Not at any time during the pressing any solvents or other processsimplifyig substances, are used.
