6 Information of interest - As of this year, all articles published in Biomédica count with a DOI (digital object identifier) number, which will doubtlessly help locating our articles in the Internet. - According to the Journal Citation Reports evaluation for 2013 (published in June, 2014), Biomédica s impact factor increased from to 0.617, and that of the last five years reached a 0.760, which places our journal in the fourth place among Latin American journals in the category of tropical medicine. Biomédica is among the 20 journals selected by the Journal Citation Reports in this category. - According to the Google Analytics report, from January 1 to December 17, 2014, our Web site ( had 236,682 visits from 154 countries. We highlight this information given that during 2013 Biomédica s site received 147,194 visits. - During 2014 we have advanced in the editorial process for the publication of a supplement on health and environmental contaminants. The guest editors for this issue, to be published by the end of 2015, are doctors Marcela Varona and Leonardo Briceño from El Rosario University. - The 2014 December issue included an update of the instructions for authors which adhered, of course, to the guidelines established by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors -ICMJE, and added clarity to aspects related to conflicts of interest, the registration of clinical assays, authorship, editorial processes, and other important aspects. - To encourage the reading and dissemination of the articles published by Biomédica, during 2014 we successfully implemented different digital marketing strategies: opening of accounts and content administration in Facebook and Twitter social networks; massive sending of newsletters with information of interest for our readers; suggestions on manuscripts for Colciencias research groups, as well as notices via e- mail addressed to authors cited in the articles. In both social networks we have regularly published notes and images on the most relevant topics included in the manuscripts published, as well as the link to access full texts. Additionally, we have included hashtags so that Biomédica s contents may be cited in the conversations of the different users connected to the net. As regards the scope of our journal s publications in Facebook and the participation or interaction with followers, our contents reached an average of 761 people monthly, of whom 25.6 clicked Like and 4.1 shared their publications on their walls, while notes published on our account had clicks. In Twitter we count with an average of 167 monthly followers; the contents published in Biomédica s account were shared (retweet) 10.9 times and marked as favorites 6 times. The links to the full text of articles had 12.5 clicks. - Finally, we thank the editors, the scientific community, as well as national and international reviewers, for their contribution to our goal of continuing growth and greater international visibility as a way of supporting national and regional scientific production.
