2 Project Title: IR4 Ornamental Horticulture Program Efficacy of Management Tools for Fungal Leaf Spots and Anthracnose Protocol #: Narrative Summary (Results/Discussion) Please keep text to one page if possible. Include summary of trial results and a brief discussion. Results for multiple PRnumbers can be summarized together, but please list all PRNumbers in the footer and in the summary data table. General The Rudbeckia (Rudbeckia fulgida cv. Goldsturm) obtained for this trial were known to be susceptible to anthracnose leaf spot. Phytotoxicity was not noted in any treatment after any of the applications. Alternaria leaf spot developed slowly but steadily as extended leaf wetness periods did not occur through the summer of 2015 and only moderate air temperature occurred during Aug and untreated controls reached an average of about 20% foliar infection by 2 Sep. Up to 21 Aug, most fungicide programs had significantly less foliar leaf spot than the untreated control. By 21 Aug, all programs had significantly less Alternaria leaf spot than the untreated control (11.1 %). By 2 Sep, all programs had significantly less Alternaria leaf spot than the untreated control (20.8 %) and programs with 5.6 to 8.0; 6.0 to to 10.4 and % Alternaria leaf spot were not significantly different from each other. All fungicide programs had lower RAUDP values in comparison to the untreated control (5.1). Programs with RAUDP values of 1.2, 1.6 to 1.9, 1.9 to 2.3, 2.3 to 2.8, 2.5 to 3.0 and 3.9 were not significantly different from each other. 1

Experiment Information Experimental Design: RB Number of Reps: 4 Materials & Methods: One location was used, at larksville Horticultural Research Farm, Michigan State University. Plants were treated during Jun as described below. Plants were produced from seeds by Raker seeds, oldwater, MI, and then transplanted by hand on 6/3/2015. Plants were situated in rows 12 apart within single rows (36 apart). Each treatment was replicated four times with plots consisting of 10 plants for a total of 40 plants per treatment. All fungicides in this trial were applied from 3 Jul to 31 Jul with a hand held R&D spray boom calibrated to deliver /A (80 p.s.i.). 3
