Salts Marine/Reef Salt Helps to Promote Coral Growth Ultimate Aquacare s Marine/Reef Salt is manufactured in Australia using only the finest ingredients available. Our salt is naturally sourced from seawater with enhanced levels of Calcium, Magnesium, Alkalinity, Chlorides, Sulphates, Potassium, Iodine, Strontium and other key elements. Higher levels of Alkalinity are required to promote coral growth, this is due to the increased ions present within your aquarium available to your coral for them to fuse into their aragonite structure. When ions such as Calcium, Magnesium, Alkalinity and Potassium are present in elevated levels, it helps to allow your coral to form stronger, more stable aragonite as opposed to brittle calcite. This helps to improve rigidity and ph tolerances. This salt can cater for all types of salt water aquariums from fish only to SPS and everything in between; when coral growth is required, this salt will help provide the essential elements. Please refer to the Ultimate Aquacare s Recommended Levels Table (located below) for more information regarding your aquarium type and the amount of salt required. mrs2200 mrs5500 mrs11000 mrs20000 mrs kg bucket 5.5kg bucket 11kg bucket 20kg box 22kg bucket Spec. 4 Natural Sea Salt Helps to Promote Coral Colouration Ultimate Aquacare s Natural Sea Salt is manufactured in Australia using only the finest ingredients available. Our salt is naturally sourced from seawater with enhanced levels of Calcium, Magnesium, Chlorides, Sulphates, Potassium, Iodine, Strontium and other key elements but is lower in Alkalinity. Alkalinity is the limiting ion when it comes to coral growth, by having a lower concentration promotes enhanced colouration and slows the growth rate. Lower Alkalinity has been linked to more brittle coral skeleton structures, to help prevent this, enhanced levels of key ions such as Magnesium, Potassium and Strontium are required. We have taken this into consideration and provide you with a premium blend with enhanced skeletal elements while still maintaining a lower growth rate due to a reduced concentration of Alkalinity. This salt is not limited to SPS only; when sizes are adequate and a higher colouration is required, this salt will help provide the key elements required. Please refer to the Ultimate Aquacare s Recommended Levels Table (located below) for more information regarding your aquarium type and the amount of salt required. nss2200 nss5500 nss11000 nss20000 nss kg bucket 5.5kg bucket 11kg bucket 20kg box 22kg bucket Spec. 6 Liquid Supplements Alkalinity Alkalinity is essential and has the ability to minimise acid fluctuations which occur on a daily basis. The capability of your aquarium to be able to do this greatly relies upon the concentration of carbonates and bicarbonates. CO 3 2 -(aq) reacts with the increased H + (aq) in order to form HCO 3 (aq) which helps keep ph around If Alkalinity levels are low then ph fluctuations will occur more frequently. Recommended Alkalinity levels are from 125 to 215 ppm (7.0 to 12.0 dkh). alkl250 alkl500 alkl1000 1L Alkalinity/Potassium Alkalinity is essential and has the ability to minimise acid fluctuations which occur on a daily basis. The capability of your aquarium to be able to do this greatly relies upon the concentration of carbonates and bicarbonates. Potassium, calcium and strontium fuse into the skeletal structures of corals which enhances their strength, growth and health. Potassium also can be taken into the tissue of your coral which will enhance its natural colour. Recommended Alkalinity levels = ppm (7-12 dkh). Recommended Potassium levels: ppm. Note: This product is not to be used as a sole Alkalinity supplement; if alkalinity levels are extremely low please use our Alkalinity product. Please test for potassium levels each week until uptake is regulated and constant dosing is applied. alkpotl250 alkpotl500 alkpotl1000 1L 4 Liquid Supplements Ultimate Aquacare Product Catalogue 2016

Calcium Calcium is a major constituent in your marine aquarium with recommended concentrations around ppm. These levels must be maintained to help with the function of fish, coral and many other wanted inhabitants. Calcium primarily exists in chemical equilibrium between the Calcium ion and Calcium carbonate solid. The reaction: Ca 2+ (aq) + CO 3 2- (aq) CaCO 3(s) explains this phenomena. If Calcium levels are low then the reaction (above) will push to the left; depleting the amount of Calcium carbonate present in your aquarium. This will result in the decreased growth and repair of many organisms. calcl250 calcl500 calcl1000 1L Calcium/Strontium Calcium is a major constituent in your marine aquarium with concentrations around ppm. Strontium is a minor constituent with suggested concentrations of around 8ppm. These levels must be maintained to help with the function of fish, coral and many other wanted inhabitants. Calcium and Strontium are taken up within specific ratios; these ratios were tested by Ph.D graduates using instruments such as Atomic Absorption Spectrometers (AAS). The ratio uptake of Strontium to Calcium is very important and the Calcium/Strontium Coral Skeleton Ionic Ratio supplement has very similar concentrations of both ions derived from these findings. calcstrl250 calcstrl500 calcstrl1000 1L Ultimate Aquacare Product Catalogue 2016 Liquid Supplements 5

Amino Acids Nitrogen is an essential component for coral growth; corals obtain this from food, amino acids, ammonium, nitrate and other nitrogen-containing compounds. Dosing with our Amino Acids will obtain the benefits of nitrogen-based feeding without the negative consequences that both nitrate and ammonium have. Our Amino Acids (for Coral Tissue Growth) supplement contains essential amino acids which have been proven as both key and essential factors in the promotion of coral tissue growth. amiacil250 amiacil500 amiacil1000 1L Foundation Foundation is a combination of Calcium and Carbonates, although it does contain significant concentrations of both these ions, it should not be used as a primary dosing supplement for either of them. As a result, a maximum dose of 4mL/100L/day is recommended. Foundation is primarily designed to help promote coralline algae growth when both Nitrate and Phosphate are at recommended levels. The added benefit of Foundation is it contains Calcium gluconate; this compound helps provide a direct energy source for wanted organisms such as corals and coralline algae. This helps stimulate growth. Calcium with recommended concentrations of around ppm and Alkalinity with recommended concentrations of around ppm (7-12dKH) are both major constituents in your marine aquarium. foundl250 foundl500 6 Liquid Supplements Ultimate Aquacare Product Catalogue 2016

Iodine Iodine levels are measured in 2 different ions: the Iodide (I ) and Iodate (IO 3 ). These ions are generally referred to as Iodine. The level of Iodine that is needed by your marine aquarium is around 0.06ppm. Unfortunately with the use of protein skimmers, absorption by organisms and other influences; these levels are often not reached. Corals and algae use Iodine to help create protective pigments which aid in the protection of excess U.V rays. They both rely heavily upon U.V rays to conduct processes such as photosynthesis; making it essential to maintain adequate Iodine levels. iodl250 iodl500 Iron, Manganese (+ Other Trace) Iron and Manganese are both trace elements found in seawater. Iron with a recommended concentration of ppm and Manganese with a relative concentration to iron (found in various species of algae) of 4%, gives a recommended concentration ppm. Iron and Manganese are used by organelles found in plant cells called chloroplasts. These chloroplasts capture the U.V rays, which allows the organism to use glucose to make molecules such as Adenosine Tri-Phosphate (ATP) and use them for energy. Chloroplasts are found in organisms such as coralline algae, phytoplankton, corals, micro algae, macro algae and zooxanthellae. Iron and Manganese help with the growth and health of these organisms. iromang+l250 iromang+l500 Ultimate Aquacare Product Catalogue 2016 Liquid Supplements 7

Magnesium Magnesium, in combination with other ions plays an important role in many biological processes completed by organisms such as fish, corals and other inhabitants. This aids with growth and repair to help maintain optimum health. With a recommended concentration of around ppm; it is a major constituent in your marine aquarium. Magnesium helps allow for higher concentrations of carbonates to be present in your water. This helps with Alkalinity and as a result helps with the growth of corals. Your tank is effectively a delicate balancing act; there are many changes which occur on a daily basis. Fortunately Magnesium helps control fluctuations in major influences such as ph, Alkalinity and other ions. magl250 magl500 magl1000 1L Magnesium/Iodine Magnesium, in combination with other ions plays an important role in many biological processes completed by organisms such as fish, corals and other inhabitants. Corals and algae use Iodine to help create protective pigments which aid in the protection of excess U.V rays. Recommended Magnesium levels = ppm. Recommended Iodine levels = ~0.06ppm. 11 Potassium Potassium is a major constituent with recommended concentrations of around ppm. It is used by organisms such as corals to make chromo-proteins which enhance certain colours. Fusion will be achieved when Potassium, Strontium and Calcium are at the recommended levels, this helps them grow and repair their bone-containing structures. As Potassium levels are constantly depleted through absorption of corals and organisms, it is necessary to consistently top up these levels in order to help maintain sustained growth and health for your inhabitants. potl250 potl500 Strontium Strontium is a minor constituent with recommended concentrations of around 8ppm in your marine aquarium. Strontium is very similar to Calcium and Magnesium in the way it reacts with carbonates to form its carbonate partner (Strontium Carbonate): Sr2+ (aq) + CO32- (aq)srco3 (s). It is also thought to be used by corals to help reduce the loss of tissue from their skeletal structures. Some organisms need Strontium more than others. Microorganisms such as Acantharia and Radiolaria use it for their spines and reproduction. Gastropods such as sea slugs use Strontium to help maintain growth. If Strontium is not kept at the recommended levels; they more than likely will develop deformed shells and as a result not sustain substantial growth. strl250 strl500 Ultimate Aquacare Product Catalogue 2016 Liquid Supplements 9

Kalkwasser Calcium is a major constituent in your marine aquarium with recommended concentrations around ppm. These levels must be maintained to help with the function of fish, coral and many other wanted inhabitants. To keep inhabitants healthy a ph of around is recommended. When there are available carbonates present, the Calcium ions react with them to form Calcium carbonate, this is then taken up by corals, snails, crabs to help build and repair their skeletal structures. When wanting to increase both Calcium and ph a Calcium hydroxide-based supplement such as Kalkwasser is recommended. kalkp1000 1kg Ultimate Aquacare Product Catalogue 2016 Powder Supplements 13

Liquid Treatments Copper Treatment Copper Treatment treats your marine fish for parasites such as: Marine Velvet Disease, Marine Ich, Skin Flukes and Gill Flukes. Levels must be maintained around ppm in order to be effective. This is to be used in a FISH ONLY TREATMENT TANK. Before using this product or any other copper-based medical treatment it is highly advised that you thoroughly research what effects it can have on your target fish and the parasite you are treating. We recommend after the treatment stop dosing Copper Treatment and use our Bio-Active Carbon (along with frequent water changes) to help remove copper levels within your treatment tank. This will assist in safely removing copper which helps to reduce copper levels within the fish(es) before re-introducing them back into your main aquarium. coptrel250 Natural Seawater Ionic Top up Ultimate Aquacare s Natural Seawater Ionic Top Up contains beneficial Calcium, Magnesium, Potassium, Carbonates and balanced Chloride to both increase concentrations and stabilise ions found in Natural Seawater. Natural Seawater is often diluted for the consumer to gain their desired salinity; as a result key ions are low in concentration. Instead of topping up Natural Seawater with synthetic salt containing Sodium Chloride, which will increase salinity, our Natural Seawater Ionic Top Up will help provide the key elements without increasing salinity, our Natural Seawater Ionic Top Up will help provide the key elements without increasing salinity. 18 De-Chlor Chlorine and Chloramine are both present in tap water. They help kill unwanted microorganisms to ensure that they do not cause harm to humans. Unfortunately both Chlorine and Chloramine have damaging effects upon fish and many other inhabitants present in your aquarium. Chlorine has effects such as inhibiting respiratory function as well as damaging kidneys. Chloramine binds with the iron in haemoglobin; deteriorating its ability to transport oxygen. These effects could be the catalyst for them dying by either suffocation or blood poisoning. De-Chlor is designed to remove both chlorine and chloramine to ensure they do not cause harm to your aquarium inhabitants. dechlol250 dechlol500 dechlol1000 1L Nitrate Remover Nitrate is found in fish faeces, food and other organic material. The organic material contains amino acids which decompose in the liver; forming urea. Once it leaves the fish it is converted to ammonia by microbes which when in water, changes to ammonium. The ammonium is converted to Nitrate which is then transformed into nitrogen gas which eventually escapes into the atmosphere. How this process occurs is through denitrifying bacteria. The way to help provide the necessary culture conditions is generally through a deep sand bed, filter medium or porous rock. Nitrate levels below 5ppm will help provide a healthy environment for your aquarium inhabitants. nitreml250 nitreml500 nitreml1000 1L 16 Liquid Treatments Ultimate Aquacare Product Catalogue 2016

ph Up A ph of around 8.3 is important for the functioning of all Marine/ Reef Aquariums, often this level is not achieved, causing stress to your aquarium s inhabitants. Within your tank, fish and other aerobic organisms respire producing carbon dioxide and absorbing oxygen, corals house and provide some nutrients for zooxanthellae to photosynthesise, removing most of this carbon dioxide and producing oxygen. In aquariums without coral (i.e. Fish Only) the carbon dioxide remains as there isn t many organisms to photosynthesise, this carbon dioxide reacts with the water to form carbonic acid, causing the ph to drop quite frequently. Dosing with ph Up will help to increase and stabilise ph within your aquarium. phupl250 phupl500 phupl1000 1L Phosphate Remover Phosphate is present in food, faeces and many other sources. In nature it combines with Nitrate to start a natural process where a water source is (eventually) converted into land called eutrophication. When concentrations of Nitrate and Phosphate are significantly high it leads to massive algal blooms which creates turbidity and covers surfaces by unwanted algae within your aquarium. This slows down the photosynthesis rate of corals which may lead to decreased growth and (in extreme cases) death. Our active ingredient precipitates out the Phosphate in a chemical reaction which removes it from the water and into the existing filtration system. Recommended Phosphate level is 0.03 to 0.06ppm. phoreml250 phoreml500 phoreml1000 1L Ultimate Aquacare Product Catalogue 2016 Liquid Treatments 17
