1 HULL SPLIT STRATEGIES

2 HULL SPLIT STRATEGIES Intrepid Edge insecticide combines two powerful active ingredients methoxyfenozide and spinetoram to form a long-lasting and fast-acting insecticide. The two active ingredients produce two modes of action and two modes of entry into pests. Intrepid Edge won t disrupt important beneficial insect populations. Pests Controlled in Almonds, Pistachios n Navel orangeworm n Peach twig borer n Leafroller (labeled in other crops) Activity on Eggs, Larvae, Adults Methoxyfenozide and spinetoram are the same active ingredients found in Intrepid and Delegate, respectively. Combined, the two active ingredients will impact all life stages of navel orangeworm. The multi-life stage activity documented by UC Extension and USDA-ARS is valuable when multiple insect life stages are found in an orchard. Intrepid Edge will comprehensively reduce the entire pest population. NOW egg NOW larvae NOW adult Furthermore, the adult activity is especially helpful when insecticides are applied late in the day or at night. At those times, adults are most active and more likely to come into contact with insecticides. Intrepid Edge has activity on all life stages IPM Compatible Intrepid Edge can be used as part of a pest management program that takes advantage of beneficial insect populations. Field trials done in almonds and pistachios show no significant increase in mite populations resulting from the use of Intrepid Edge. Formulation/Packaging Intrepid Edge is a 3 lb/gallon material, containing 2.5 lb/gallon of methoxyfenozide and 0.5 lb/gallon of spinetoram. Fewer Reasons to Use Pyrethroids Inexpensive and effective in the past, pyrethroids continue to lose effectiveness in many almond- and pistachio-growing areas. Data presented at Pistachio Day 2016 (Visalia Jan 2016) provided evidence of NOW exhibiting significant increased tolerance to pyrethroids since roids Overuse has likely contributed to the increased tolerance. In some nut-growing counties, nearly 80% of the yearly sprays for worms and bugs were pyrethroids. With Intrepid Edge, however, growers get higher efficacy than pyrethroids (including adult kill), longer residual than pyrethroids, and no disruption of beneficial insect populations.
