Registrant Comments As a result of what I have learned, I will make the following change(s) in my practice: ACL graft choices ACL Reconstruction anatomic footprints ACL technique ACL-was impressed with several of the systems presented add ultrasound Adding cartilage repair procedures and techniques; increasing my indications for meniscus repair; using a new total shoulder resurfacing system Adding ultrasound Adductor canal blocks for knee procedures. All knowledge will be taken into consideration. Autograft ACL Begin collecting outcomes data Better evaluate glenoid bone loss. better exposure to lateral CAM Better patient assessment and evaluation better patient education change criteria for MRI dye studies change my approach to some cartilage knee lesions. Consider smith and nephew new acl guide. Change my treatment of Achilles' tendon tears and plantar fasciitis change some of my surgical approaches. consider increasing scope for meniscal repair indications consider some different techniques Consider two incision technique for ACLR Consider use of PFJ arthroplasty Critically evaluate the literature better decrease utilization of slap repair Discuss with patient more of the controversial nature of certain disorders and treatment Do more MRI's DVT prophylaxis for hip arthroscopy Evaluate IFI more follow innovations in pt's selection and management help eval and decision for hip scope I am currently up to date. No major changes I have already changed the way I treat recurrent patellar instability. I'll try to make better and better physical exploration and in addition to the image studies improved diagnosis In Ankle and foot surgeries
Increase the time to each speaker increase use of biologics increased use of biologic patches It will change the way I treat the overhead thrower It will improve my pain management practice. larger knowledge bases latarjet more frequently, use of new grafts for RC less hesitation on biceps tenotomy, continue using conexa for massive rotator cuff tears. less knotless anchors in rotator cuff tears Looking more closely at quads tendon grafts, accessory posterior portal for shoulder arthroscopy Modification in ACL recon Modify hip arthroscopy technique Modify arthroscopic techniques in the shoulder to my foot and ankle practice more aggressive rehab post-op cuff repair More cartilage restorative surgery more cartilage restoring procedures More conservative approach More US guided interventions my approach to biceps tendon in shoulder arthroscopy New technique for meniscal fixation. New ultrasound techniques. no major change, but have up to date knowledge non contrast MRI for shoulder and hip labral pathology not try lig teres repair OCD Rx pcl technique possibly incorporate MSK ultrasound for Dx and Rx Practice management improvements, ACL reconstruction, dealing with shoulder instability in the setting of bone loss, augmenting rotator cuff repair Practice patterns Re-evaluate indications and try different approaches. Reevaluate osteochondral lesion possibilities. Try all inside ACL technique refer earlier for RTC repair revision operation for shoulder instability several pearls gained regarding surgical techniques suprascapular nerve dissection Surgical techniques surgical treatment of knee and shoulder pathology Technical pearls very helpful
tenodese with suture anchors The foot and ankle section confirmed that my practice patterns are up to date currently. Treatment options and technique for painful shoulder Try different anchors and meniscal suturing devices. tune up criteria and surgical tips Ultrasound implementation Use DeNovo use more ultrasound Use more ultrasound and revisit my cal techniques Weigh the current information about the pathology and the nonoperative outcome Worry less about drilling through physis for ACL and use soft tissue graft only
What could be added to the Orthopaedic Summit to make it a more valuable educational experience? just a bit more arthroplasty A few more basic hot to lectures: how I repair a cuff arthroscopically-portals and technique. How I repair a meniscal tear etc. How i tie knots arthroscopically a little less rapid fire and give each speaker a little more time. Even if it means covering a few less topic that then can be rotated each year A little more time for presenters to allow more discussion and keep on schedule A theme through all the dialogues about : ''That is the literature, this is what I actually do.'' A video or DVD of the presentations available for attendees to review additional hand/wrist sports medicine topics Additional ultrasound training/information Allow more time for panel discussion after topic debates. I found the hip panel discussion very helpful i.e. one question and every surgeon gave their individual answers. Nice to see the variation in answers. Audience immediate voting on topics. Audience interaction better preparation of live surgery Better time management. Slightly longer lecture times. case discussion common sense and real value to the true practice... Course Syllabus days are long Debates about failed cases fewer hours per day would allow better retention of presented materials Fewer Operative Technique lectures. Focus time with questions for faculty, difficult cases Foot and ankle cadaver course Free workshops great as is great as it is, maybe more hand great course Great meeting Greater insight in variables as to physical therapy case related Hands-on cadaver workshops should follow lecture programs e.g. knee arthroscopic techniques lecture in am with optional break-out hands on cadaveric workshops in afternoon. May or may not overlap with continuing lectures on other topics. Some may want to get out of lecture hall for the afternoon and return for evening talks have 7 min presentations followed by a panel for an additional 10. reduce repetition Have all contact information for presenters available, and also all PowerPoint avail before mtg.
have model joints for participants to practice with I think that this year s course was great I would not add anything in particular if possible, extend meeting to allow longer talks and in-depth presentations; more surgical demonstrations of cutting-edge techniques It is already quite comprehensive. it is very thorough as currently structured It was all practice-oriented. There should be more research based content, physiological, and pathological issues should be raised as well. It appeared as if the course was geared toward the PA level, not the MD level. It would help me to have either course handouts or video of the talks made available later so that I could review the information later. its good keep as is keep as is. less commercial bias less promo plugs by faculty (visionscope and cartiform) Not convinced these faculty are using these products for improved patient care. Live surgery Live Surgery Battles live surgery demos of new techniques Live Surgery or Surgical Demonstrations Live surgical demonstration longer question and answer sessions Make days shorter maybe a set time for faculty to be available for questions in an informal setting - a cocktail or coffee hour Might consider parallel sessions: for example, in one room shoulder instability, another room total shoulder arthroplasty. spend a little more time in each room on each topic More basic research More basic science more discussion and q/a More discussion on physical exam and its correlation with imaging finding and surgical findings More discussion time More discussion!!!! More expert opinions, and what they do in practice/ case discussions More faculty debate More general orthopedic topics More information on outpatient joint replacement more organized cadaver lab More papers that include longer folio-up as opposed to gee whiz approaches more round table discussions pros/cons debates
more shoulder days More workshops new/different voices at the podium Nothing - its a great course Nothing it is great course one on one cadaver lab opportunity is profoundly different to two docs per cadaver; while you gave an opportunity to ask questions via text, vast majority of time the presenters were so pressed for time there was no time. presenting more cases for panels (that they have not seen) to get more practical insight ORTHOTIC OPTIONS Poor attendance early in AM Practice patterns Question and answer really can't think of anything rehabilitation Shorter days, By the late afternoon session everyone is pretty much burned out shorter each day too long Single page handout from each lecture with key points and references. ( prefer electronic version) spread it out over 8 hours. 12 hours was too much on a daily basis Start later, give more breaks, allow attendees to digest what they have heard. step by step algorithm for cartilage restoration/preservation taking a written pole of the various specialists as to which treatment for a given problem do they favor... not just those that gave the lecture The knee session was very rushed! Maybe a bit less speakers but more thorough coverage the workshop for post-op pain management ( 12/3/14) needs to be also for PA's who mostly managing pt's postop on the floor topics provide good update. add more MRI interpretation. Use better hotel or closer to meeting very well done in present format Well done course. Well I think the time duration of the entire course i think it was too tight With so many experts I would have more panel discussions so they can talk about how they handle each topic discusses.
Please indicate what topics you would like included for the 2015 Orthopaedic Summit? ACL graft choices and alternatives; meniscus repair and healing; hip-- discerning labral tears from psoas impingement or ligamentum teres tears; MRI vs. arthroscopy correlation for major pathology of the shoulder, hip, knee, and ankle additional hand/wrist sports medicine topics; update on advances in treatment of slow to resolve concussion symptoms Additional ultrasound training/information ALL recon all the same. it was great all topics were included that i would think are appropriate - the sessions were quite long, if the course were added to it would require additional day Although the wrist fracture section was interesting, one might consider looking at arthroscopy of the wrist any As above, this course is wonderful for exposing controversy and demonstrating new innovations course should allow for see one, do one, teach one. Would like to learn about new innovative techniques or devices and then use them in the lab. Hands- on is best for teaching arthroscopic surgery as is Basic hip arthroscopy Biologics -- does PRP really work? Use and cost of ultrasound - Do we really need to use ultrasound to inject most joints? Ankle fractures -- should we be fixing the deltoid? biologics more detailed more discussion of practice mngmnt and coding advice cartilage restoration indications and techniques common hand, elbow problems. Concussions Continue Foot & Ankle Ankle Arthritis TAA Arthroscopic Fusion continue presenting a balanced approach but include controversial topics Continue the same topics, but add more scientific based physiological, pathological, and research based content. Continue with new innovations in treating cartilage lesions. Keep Arnoczky at all costs! Continued updates on the Shoulder and Knee topics that were discussed at the last meeting. Discuss bracing post ACLR with return to sports. Who recommends them and who thinks they are unnecessary. Discussion of metal allergies as possible cause of tkr pain Knee injection techniques for post op analgesia Elbow Elbow arthroscopy Elbow UCL recon, elbow scopes Elbow, Tommy John european experience with topics that address FDA non-approved devices
examine the hip labral patient vs the fem-cam patient the variation Failed hip arthroscopy Foot and ankle was well done. General orthopedics, hip fractures, total knees and hips hand Hand, wrist, elbow HTO technique tips and tricks I have no constructive suggestions Its already really comprehensive keep as is Knee and Shoulder lis franc, mid foot injury MAQUET PROCEDURE more cartilage restoration more fracture topics more hip arthroscopy more information on stem cell research and application as well as PRP use more knee More on Orthobiologics more on PRP and stem cell treatment options more time for panel discussions by experts More ultrasound use most everything was covered in some way Muscle transfers in reverse total shoulders. Alternatives to treating the massive rotator cuff tear Musculoskeletal ultrasound non op sports med Non-surgical spine for sports physicians relating to diag. + treatment. out patient total hip Patellofemoral perhaps a little more on knee arthritis/tka peroneal tendon problems sesamoid issues in the athlete Practice patterns Rehaabilitation programs rehabilitation results of partial knee replacement same Same ones Same topics with literature updates.
same topics. Program was really great. same, but add elbow again see above similar topics team physician topics the above coffee hour. Like the Hawaii course does - ''Under the Baynon tree'' The course schedule is well done. The same, but include elbow, too Tissue engineering, Regenerative medicine Tranexamic acid use Trauma orthopaedics well covered in 2014 summit. when and when not to do double row RCR you covered it... you hit them all
Additional Comments: algorithms Although I do not perform hip arthroscopy, I would have liked to attend some of the hip lectures, but foot / ankle was more related to my practice. As there are so many sponsors, the cost of the conference should be reduced, or repeat attendees should be given a discount. Congratulations on a wonderful meeting Course great yet the speed and the failure to tie it all together is a problem... its like bottle rockets going off on a given subject sometimes Definitely needs more break time, and more q&a time. Starts too early, goes too late. Too exhausting Dr. C. Scott Humphrey has excellent knowledge of the above subject enjoyable but too concentrated by the afternoon session most of us were not paying full attention, enjoyed the working breakfast and lunch enjoyed the Foot and Ankle session; good addition Excellent course, terrific lectures, thank you for all the work organizing it, keep it in Las Vegas (I am biased, I live here) excellent meeting FANTASTIC conference! this was my second year in a row coming to the conference. I plan on coming every year, especially to Las Vegas. I have learned so much that I apply in my daily practice. I get to see my best friend who practices in California, and I get to meet and talk to experts in the field. Thank you and excellent job once again, Dr. Plancher! good course great conference great course Great course a bit overwhelming Great course Kevin. Great course. One of best that I attend great course. Venue can Change! Great Job!!! Great meeting and more helpful to me than the annual AAOS I like getting a hard copy syllabus. Maybe make it optional for purchase. I love the debates. More debates is preferable to me. But then I think either there should be a rebuttal or the moderator needs to summarize so listeners can have a consensus statement at the end. I would have preferred multiple short breaks. IF I go to one meeting a year this is the one. Thanks It was a really outstanding experience. Keep up with current techniques Maybe cut the number of topics by 10-15% and thus give more time for true debate/questions on the controversial topics more time for questions and discussion would be nice On the survey page about pre-course cadaver labs, it didn't indicate if 1 was very likely/important or 5 was -
that could have been clearer. Great course. Outstanding meeting. Lot of info packed into 3 days!!! Faculty was terrific! overall a wonderful course; looking forward to next year Overall great mtg Practice patterns Presentations often redundant Speakers were very rushed. Some were cut off just as they were getting to meat of material. Very important in the point counterpoints to allow speakers to conclude with what they really do thank you for a great course once again you've gone above and beyond. The course is set up for the community orthopedic surgeon which is great! It s great to hear on the different approaches of care. The daily schedule is too long. It is almost silly to have a course that goes from 6:30 in the morning to almost 6:30 at night with little breaks in a town like Las Vegas where there is so much to do. Most of the talks are ones that you hate to miss, but by mid-afternoon, my brain is tired. the timing and location of the course Is excellent which is why I have attended for the last 3 years. The topics were fine. The ACL section was beat up though. I found the pace through the sections too fast but a lot of ground covered. Will have to review the talks. The whole point-counterpoint ended up being simply a presentation on how you can bend the literature into whatever you want it to say. It was very unhelpful. A survey of the panel and comprehensive discussions of ''what I really do'' would be much more helpful. Too ambitious. Need to decompress. Too long of a day. Some topics were repeated. Need to shorten the sessions and provide more breaks so people can pay better attention. Also, there was hardly any free time to enjoy Vegas, I think we can accomplish both a good meeting and fun. Way too much information to try to jam in at one time. I would gladly see 25% fewer lecture in exchange for question and answer, or, better yet, poll the experts. Other courses do much more 'real life...what would you do with...' This is always more beneficial than having someone trying to defend a point of view they don't believe in. There is almost no value in that. For my time, I probably would not attend again. Well run course
