2 General Medicine Inpatient 2 months as a PGY-1 2 months as a PGY-2 or PGY-3 supervisor 2 months as a PGY-4 supervisor Emergency Center 1 month as a PGY-1 Critical Care 1 month as a PGY-1 in the CCU 1 month as a PGY-1 in the MICU 1 month as a PGY-4 in a combined MICU/CCU setting Medical Subspecialty Electives (includes both inpatient and outpatient electives as well as consult services) 1 month as a PGY-1 6 months divided between the PGY-2 and PGY-3 years. Electives in internal medicine for block periods include: Cardiology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Hematology, Immunology & Allergy, Infectious Disease, Nephrology, Oncology, Pulmonary, Rheumatology, and Women's Health. Geriatrics 1 month during the PGY-2 or PGY-3 years Neurology 1 month during the PGY-2 or PGY-3 years Ambulatory Care 1 month as a PGY-2 1 month as a PGY-3
3 3 months as a PGY-4 The ambulatory care clinic time is to be used for outpatient experiences in internal medicine and its subspecialties, dermatology, gynecology, care of the HIV patient, hospice care, medicine/pediatrics community based practice, office based procedures, ophthalmology, orthopedics, otorhinolaryngology, psychiatry, sports medicine, and urology. During your fourth year, one of the ambulatory rotations will be spent on the transition medicine elective. Residents will rotate through the Baylor Transition Medicine Clinic, Texas Adult Congenital Heart Clinic, Texas Children s Cancer Center Long Term Survivor Clinic, Adult Cystic Fibrosis Clinic, and others. Another month of the ambulatory rotations will be spent serving as continuity clinic chief at the residents' clinic. This month gives residents the opportunity to learn how to manage a practice. Total Estimated Ambulatory Time in Medicine Ambulatory time during the 24 months of training in internal medicine is 44 percent, divided as follows: Emergency Center, one month 4% Ambulatory Block time, five months 17% Continuity Clinic 15% Subspecialty Clinics during subspecialty assignments 4% Pediatrics Curriculum The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education requires the Pediatrics experience to be 24 months. Time spent on inpatient services is limited to less than 60 percent. The program is also required to have at least five months spent in a supervisory role. Overall, the ACGME mandates 19 of the 24 months. The remaining five months are used at the discretion of the residency program to fulfill the requirements and provide elective time. PEDIATRICS CURRICULUM REQUIREMENTS General Inpatient Baylor College of Medicine ACGME Requirements General Inpatient 2 months as a PGY-1: TCH Supervisory 2 months
4 1 month as a PGY-2 or PGY-3 (supervisory role) : TCH Acting Chief Total 5 months 1-2 months as a PGY-4 (supervisory role): BT Wards One of the inpatient sub-specialty ward months (listed below) can count towards the total general inpatient ward month requirements as allowed by RRC/ACGME. Emergency and Acute Care Emergency and Acute Care 1 month as a PGY-1 at Ben Taub ED (during Pedi 101) In the ED 1 month 2-3 months as a PGY-2 or PGY-3 (minimum one month at TCH ED, second at either TCH or Ben Taub) Total 3 months 1 month as a PGY-4 (supervisor role) Newborn Nursery Newborn Nursery 1 months as a PGY-1 at Ben Taub ED 1 month Intensive Care Intensive Care 1 month as a PGY-2 or 3 at TCH NICU NICU/Level II - 3 months 1 month as PGY-2 or 3 at TCH Level II Nursery PICU - 1 month 1 month as a PGY-2 or 3 at TCH PICU Total - 4 months 1 month as PGY-4 at Ben Taub NICU or Level II(supervisory role) Adolescent Medicine Adolescent Medicine 1 month as a PGY-2 or 3 1 month as a PGY-2 or 3 Development/Behavioral Pediatrics Development/Behavioral Pediatrics 1 month as a PGY-2 or 3 1 month as a PGY-2 or 3 Subspecialty Subspecialty 2 months at PGY-1 (Hem/Onc and Pulmonary) Total 4 months 2 months as PGY-2 or 3 (Cardiology and Neurology)

These include: Allergy and Immunology, Dermatology, Endocrinology and Metabolism, Gastroenterology, Genetics, Hematology-Oncology, Infectious Disease, Nephrology, Otorhinolaryngology, Orthopedics, Pulmonary Disease, Rheumatology, or an approved "offsite" elective which may include an international site. A resident is limited to two "off-site" electives. Total Estimated Ambulatory Time in Pediatrics Total ambulatory time during the 24 months of training in pediatrics is estimated to be 54 percent.
