5 Meet the Task Force Click Kristinto Greenwood edit Master PT, title DPT, styleedd, MS, GCS Associate Clinical Professor and Interim Department Chair in the Department of Physical Therapy, Movement and Rehabilitation Sciences at Northeastern University. Scholarship focus: preparing students for acute care physical therapist practice and interprofessional simulation. Has worked to advance entry-level acute care education through her work with the Academy of Acute Care Physical therapy including leading the task forces to develop the Core Competencies for Entry-level Practice in Acute Care Physical Therapy and Bridge the Gap Conference Task Force Kristin has published, presented and received several awards including the James Dunleavey Acute Care Physical Therapy Distinguished Service Award and Bouvé College of Health Sciences Undergraduate Bouvé Distinguished Educator Award. 14 Click Sara Alhajeri, to edit Master MPT, GCS title style Lead PT and SCCE at Barnes Jewish Hospital and Clinical Education partner with Washington University Program in Physical Therapy. Sara leads the PT team at Barnes Jewish Hospital by mentoring staff members to become successful clinicians and clinical instructors. After graduating from Washington University Program in Physical Therapy, Sara has gained experience in all areas of acute care physical therapy, with a special interest in pulmonary and ventilator dependent population. Presentation and Lecture topics that she has provided include topics such as: Frailty, Orthopnea-Platypnea, Geriatric Oncology patients, and Collaborations in Clinical Education. Sara coordinates lab/ice experiences for local students, and values clinical partnerships with PT/PTA schools nationwide. 15 5

6 Click Sujoy to Bose, edit PT, Master DPT, title MHS, style BSPT Dr. Sujoy Bose is an Assistant Professor with Marshall University in West Virginia, with teaching responsibilities in fundamental medical subjects of Physiology, Pathology, Pharmacology, and Clinical topics of Cardiovascular-pulmonary & Integumentary sciences. Dr. Bose earned his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Des Moines University, IA, & is Board-certified in Cardiovascular & Pulmonary PT. He holds a Masters in Health Sciences with major in Ortho & Neuro-track Physical Therapy from the University of Indianapolis, IN, and a Bachelors in Physiotherapy from the University of Calcutta, India. His entry-level Diploma in Physiotherapy was earned from the National Institute for the Orthopaedically Handicapped in Calcutta, India. Interested in the pathophysiology and the differential diagnosis of the fundamental pathology of disease that ultimately contribute to movement dysfunction. Along with academic work, Dr. Bose maintains clinical & teaching privileges with Cabell-Huntington hospital, a multi-specialty acute care health system. Serves on the Board of Directors for the AACPT (a component of the APTA) as the Chief Delegate, and is also a member of the Cardiovascular & Pulmonary Section of the APTA. He was appointed to SACE (Specialty Academy of Content Experts) of the American Board of PT Specialties in 2013, and serves as a committee member on the American Board of Physical Therapy Residencies & Fellowship as content expert. 16 Click Beverly to edit Fein, Master PT, DPT, title EdD style Earned her BS in Physical Therapy from the University of Pennsylvania, MS from Temple University, EdD in Educational Leadership from the University of Bridgeport, and tdpt from MGH Institute. She is Clinical Associate Professor of Physical Therapy and Director of Clinical Education at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT, where she teaches physical therapy management of patients with medically complex disorders/acute care as well as teaching development of therapeutic relationships, cultural competence, psychosocial issues in health care. Her publications and presentations include such topics as problem based learning and communication skills, interprofessional education and specialized teaching techniques; she has served as a curriculum consultant in physical therapy and for other disciplines. Credentialed Trainer for the both the APTA Basic and Advanced Credentialed Clinical Instructor Programs. She is the Chair of the Academy of Acute Care Physical Therapy s Task Force on Residencies and Fellowships and serves on the Academy s Acute Care Education Committee. Current research explores excellence in clinical teachers and issues surrounding integrating the Electronic Health Record into clinical education. 17 Click Sharon to Gorman, edit Master PT, title DPTSc style Professor of Physical Therapy at Samuel Merritt University in Oakland, CA. She teaches Doctor of Physical Therapy students in the areas of acute care, neurologic rehabilitation, and management of complex patients. Received her Doctor of Science degree in Physical Therapy at University of California/San Francisco State University, a Master of Science in Health Science at San Francisco State University, and a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from Mt. St. Mary s University, Los Angeles. Board certified by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties as a Geriatric Clinical Specialist and also holds advanced certification and training in assessment and treatment of vestibular disorders and in neurodevelopmental treatment approaches for adults with hemiplegia. She is a Distinguished Practitioner and Fellow of the National Academies of Practice, whose mission is advancing interprofessional healthcare by fostering collaboration and advocating policies in the best interest of individuals and communities. Chief Financial Officer of Hands for Global Health, a non-governmental charitable organization committed to empowering health professions students to take leadership roles in global health and also serves as the President of the Academy of Acute Care Physical Therapy. 18 6

7 Click Melissa to Hake, edit Master PT, DScPT title style Clinical Education Coordinator at Mayo Clinical Hospital Rochester Methodist Campus and an Assistant Professor in the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science graduate of Mayo School of Health Sciences Physical Therapy program and earned a DScPT through the University of Maryland in Credentialed through the American Physical Therapy Association as an Advanced Clinical Instructor, and has directly mentored over 120 students completing clinical internships in acute care. As a member of the AACPT s Minimum Skills Task force, she co-developed the Academy of Acute Care Physical Therapy s Core Competencies for Entry-level Practice in Acute Care Physical Therapy and has published and presented nationally on this topic. Dr. Hake s clinical, education, and research interests include the clinical competency of physical therapy students, the collaborative clinical education model, oncology rehabilitation, and liver disease/transplantation. She teaches coursework in complex medical conditions and differential diagnosis for the Mayo School of Health Sciences Physical Therapy program. She is a Silver Level Certified Mayo Clinic Quality Fellow. 19 Click Julie High, to edit PT, Master MS title style Program Coordinator and Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education of the Physical Therapist Assistant Program at St. Louis Community College for fifteen years. Received her Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy and Master of Science in Physiology at St. Louis University. Her clinical practice has been in acute care and geriatric care. In addition to managing clinical education her teaching duties include wound care, acute care, and kinesiology. She currently is the lead program director overseeing 10 campuses for Concorde Career College. Dr. Novak earned her BA in Psychology from Kean University in 1998, MPT in Physical Therapy from Temple University in 2001 and t-dpt in 2006, her MBA in Healthcare Administration from George Washington University in Dr. Novak also completed the Education Leadership Fellowship in She is currently working on her Ed.D in Post-Secondary Education. She is credentialed Clinical Instructor and mentored many students in her time in the acute care setting prior to switching to education. Dr. Novak s primary acute care background is critical care, neuro, and geriatrics. 21 7

8 Click Babette to edit Sanders, Master PT, title DPT, style MS, FAPTA Professor and Assistant Chair for Student Affairs in the Department of Physical Therapy and Human Movement Sciences at Northwestern University where she teaches foundational PT skills, psychosocial issues in physical therapy and professional role development in the DPT curriculum. Her scholarship focus is on educational and gender issues in physical therapy practice and education. The majority of her clinical practice was in acute care. Babette served on the task force to develop the original CPI. She has recently served on the task force to develop the Core Competencies for Entry-level Practice in Acute Care Physical Therapy. Babette has served in numerous leadership positions within APTA and faculty governance of Northwestern University.
