2 Section 2: Specific Information 2.1 Philosophy, Importance, Objectives of the Program and Student s Qualifications Philosophy of the program This program aims to foster a culture of high-quality researchers in physical therapy so that they can conduct studies in physical therapy in line with international standards. In addition, they have morality, ethics and public conscience Importance of the program The program is a mechanism to drive the university s missions focusing on producing graduates with knowledge and skills in conducting research in physical therapy in line with international standards to benefit society including integrating and discovering a new body of knowledge and technology related to certain fields of physical therapy, resulting in increased effectiveness. The graduates can also effectively transfer their knowledge to the public Objectives of the program To produce graduates who 1) Are able to apply their high-level of knowledge to specific fields of physical therapy in the prevention, promotion, treatment and rehabilitation of physical performance. 2) Are equipped with knowledge in properly conducting research in specific fields of physical therapy academically. 3) Are able to conduct life-long learning and apply evidence-based knowledge to develop their career in line with international standards. 4) Have morality, ethics and public consciousness Student s Qualifications Chulalongkorn University students are to be graduates that are worthy members of the global society with the following 9 qualifications: 1. Knowledge (well-rounded and deep understanding of knowledge), 2. Integrity (having morality and ethics), 3. Thinking skills (conscientious, initiative and problem-solving), 4. Know-how (professional skills, communication skills, information technology skills, mathematics and statistics skills, management skills), 5. Inquisitive mind and know how to gain knowledge (inquisitive mind, learning skills), 6. Leadership, 7. Healthy, 8. Voluntary-minded and public conscience and 9. Being Thai in the globalized age. 2

3 The distinctive features of this program are that the graduates are able to apply evidence-based knowledge related to specific physical therapy to the prevention, promotion, treatment and rehabilitation of physical performance and development of careers in line with international standards. 3

Students have to register for the Seminar in Physical Therapy every semester until they graduate. The grade for this course is S/U and its credits are not included in the total credits. 2. In addition, students can register for other courses offered by the Graduate School of Chulalongkorn University or other universities, which award S/U and the credits of such courses are not included in the total credits. The other courses should be in line with their thesis and before taking such courses, students have to ask for approval from their advisor and the Program Administration Committee. 4
