EDUCATION PROGRAM 2013 Jagiellonian University College Krakow, 2012 Poland Al Dorrah Heart Care Hospital Cairo, Egypt Erasmus MC ThoraxCenter Rotterdam, Netherlands Hôpital Européen Georges Pompidou Paris, France
IMAGING AND FUNCTIONAL IMAGING AND FUNCTIONAL ASSESSMENTS ASSESSMENTS Scientific Agenda The scientific program will include: Basics of Intravascular Ultrasound (IVUS) IVUS interpretation and measurements Clinical data and publications IVUS and its role in the clinical practice Volcano VH IVUS imagery: technology, plaque characterization, clinical data and publications including Culprit of the Culprit, PROSPECT Integration of VH IVUS into the clinical practice Functional Measurement: basics and technology Hyperemic Stimuli Variances in coronary physiology (ostial lesions, serial stenoses / diffuse disease, MVD, FFR post-stenting, ACS/post-ACS) Prognostic value and limitations of FFR Publications and recent data (including FAME) Integration of functional assessments into clinical practice Live cases in the cath lab Case reviews; participants are invited to bring their own cases for discussion Hands-on Specifics Two types of workshops will be provided: 1. Technology basics, data and references (Functional Measurement & Imaging); Clinical applications in theory and practice. (one or two day). 2. Advanced integration of imaging and functional measurements into the clinical routine in theory and practice addressing specific indications such as PCI in LM and ACS patients. Interactive case reviews. Participants are invited to contribute cases from their own experience. (one or one and a half day). These programs are based on interaction. The active involvement of the participants is greatly appreciated. Consecutive participation in different workshops is useful.
WORKSHOP PROGRAM EUROPE WORKSHOP PROGRAM EUROPE Course Objectives Upon completion of the workshop, participants will be able to: Understand the principle and strategy of Functional Measurement Differentiate ischemic and non-ischemic lesions Identify location and distribution of plaque Measure and analyse normal, abnormal and stented arterial lumens based on IVUS Develop patient specific strategies to use and combine functional assessments and intravascular ultrasound during coronary interventions Interpret VH IVUS information Differentiate lesion types based on Volcano VH IVUS definitions Educational Overview These workshops are designed to provide interventional cardiologists with a fundamental understanding of functional and morphologic vessel and lesion assessment using functional measurement and intravascular imaging instead of angiography alone. Our internationally known cardiovascular faculties have extensive experience and will familiarize course participants with various clinical applications and practical tips based on both live and recorded cases as well as with a comprehensive overview about supportive data and publications. These workshops build on interaction and practical experience. Participants are invited to contribute actively. There is ample opportunity for case reviews and faculty-participant interaction. Dedicated workshop programs are also provided for other health care professionals (nurses and technicians).
WORKSHOP PROGRAM EUROPE WORKSHOP PROGRAM EUROPE Who Should Attend Interventionalists and other healthcare professionals who are integrating advanced intravascular modalities for vessel and lesion assessment (such as IVUS, VH IVUS and Functional Measurement) into their clinical practice will benefit from this program. Workshop Agenda The workshops will take place at the respective hospital facility. One day, one and a half day, and two day workshops are available. A detailed agenda will be provided. A faculty dinner will be included either the evening prior to the workshop (one day workshops) or after the first day (two day and one and a half day workshops). Hospital Facilities and Faculties Krakow Paris Rotterdam Cairo Jagiellonian Universtity, Medical College (D. Dudek, MD & J. Legutko, MD) Hôpital Européen Georges Pompidou (A. Lafont, MD) Erasmus MC ThoraxCenter (J. Ligthart MSc & F. Zijlstra, MD) Al Dorrah Heart Care Hospital (Ahmed Khashaba, MD) Travel and Accommodations The participant will need to arrive during the late afternoon the day before the workshop (one and two day workshops) and in the early afternoon of the first day (one and a half day workshop). Accommodations will be organized by Volcano Europe. All information regarding the logistics (including travelling arrangements and hotel reservation as well as local details) will be provided in time. Cancellation Policy Any cancellation within 14 days before the training will incur a full fee.
FACILITIES FACILITIES Erasmus MC ThoraxCenter Rotterdam, Netherlands J. Ligthart MSc & F. Zijlstra, MD Theory and Practice of Intracoronary Imaging These workshops provide comprehensive information about all technical and clinical details of Ultrasound and Intravascular Ultrasound and derived technologies such as VH IVUS. Furthermore there will be an overview of clinical data that is building the evidence for the use of IVUS in clinical practice as well as in research conditions. Participants will be exposed to the integration of advanced vessel and lesion assessment during live cases that will be transmitted from the cath lab. Furthermore there will be opportunities to practice image interpretation and to review and discuss imaging protocols for the routine. FFR measurements and theory are also included. These workshops address information that applies to beginners as well as to advanced users. Group size is up to 10 participants Jagiellonian University College Krakow, Poland D. Dudek, MD & J. Legutko, MD Precision Guided PCI in LM and in Complex ACS Interventions These workshops provide insight in how to use imaging and functional assessment to guide complex interventions. They will be particularly dedicated to the treatment of LM lesions. Participants will learn how to combine evidence and experience to plan and guide these complex lesions. They will also get exposed to the benefits of imaging in patients presenting with ACS. The small groups allow interactive discussions and the exchange of experience between the participants, that are invited to bring their own cases for review. These workshops are dedicated to experienced users. Group size is up to 8 participants
FACILITIES FACILITIES Hôpital Européen Georges Pompidou Paris, France A. Lafont, MD Advanced Approach to Stable Patients The subject of these workshops is the use of FFR and imaging in stable patients. Participants will be exposed to the integration of advanced technologies which will be demonstrated and discussed during live cases in the cathlabs. The up-to-date evidence will be reviewed during dedicated lectures. The small groups will allow interactive participation and the exchange of experience. Adaptable program. Technicians will benefit also. Beginners and advanced users will benefit from participation in these workshops. Group size: 2-5 Al Dorrah Heart Care Hospital Cairo, Egypt Ahmed Khashaba, MD Angiography is not Enough! These workshops are designed to provide interventional cardiologists with a fundamental understanding of functional and morphologic vessel and lesion assessment using functional measurement and intravascular imaging instead of angiography alone. Technicians are welcome too.
