2 5 Steps to Build a Winning Image: Achieve Happiness and Wellbeing Our success in any undertaking will never be greater than the image we have of ourselves. ~ Bob Proctor, Thinking Into Results Why does our self-image have such an astounding effect on our results? What are the invisible barriers that hold us back? Let's explore why and how we can change our results. Science and psychology have isolated the one prime cause for success or failure in life. In 1960, Dr. Maxwell Maltz said that self-image psychology was the greatest psychological discovery of his century. Dr. Maltz was a renowned plastic surgeon who started to study his patients after he was many times surprised with their post-surgical results. He published his findings and thoughts in the book Psycho-Cybernetics. While looking at the outcomes and psychological changes of his patients after plastic surgery, Dr. Maltz came to the conclusion that we actually have two images. One is the image that reflects back to us from the mirror and the other one is that image of us we hold in our mind, our self- image. Bob Proctor built on this knowledge, and through the Thinking Into Results program we help people understand how self-image has complete control over their ability to achieve (or fail to achieve) a goal and to change their results. Our self-image is how we see ourselves, the person we think we are. What we think and feel about ourselves is influenced and formed early on. Our childhood and past experiences shape a strong, successful self-image or the opposite, an image with limiting beliefs and doubt. The image we have of ourselves determines our successes and results. Our feelings and behaviors are consistent with the picture deeply imprinted in our subconscious mind, our self-image. Our physical body acts and reacts based on what is stored in our subconscious mind. Our body is merely the expression of our self-image. Plus, the more emotions we add, the stronger the inner image and the corresponding results. It is important to understand that our subconscious mind does not know the difference between what is imagined and what is real and it reacts based on

3 the image we have imprinted. Let me illustrate this to you with the Lemon example: Imagine that you have a lemon in your hand. A beautiful, yellow, fully ripe and juicy lemon. Now, imagine that you re cutting the lemon in half and holding both lemon halves in your hands. Look at the two halves; they are very juicy and you can even smell the freshness of the lemon. With the rough texture on the outside that you can feel in your hand, you take one half to your mouth and bite into it. You taste the lemon what do you taste and feel? Perhaps it s sour? Or your mouth is puckering, or your whole body might react with goose bumps and shiver. Now, think: did you actually have a lemon? You did not. Your body reacted to your past lemon experiences that are deeply stored in your subconscious mind. During our whole life, our physical body reacts to whatever is stored in our subconscious mind and, as mentioned before, our subconscious mind does not know if it s real or imagined. You can build a Winning Image of yourself in all areas of your life: Happiness Health Wealth Relationships Sports and performance Social life Success Career and more Let s get into those 5 Action Steps now.

4 Five Action Steps To Achieve Your Results Follow the five steps below and commit to regular practice. You will be astounded by the progress and delighted by your happiness, successes and well-being you experience. 1. Understand what image you are holding of yourself. How do you see yourself in the various areas of your life? When you listen to your mind chatter (mind chatter is what you tell yourself all day), what do you hear? Are you thinking about what you did well or reliving what did not go well? Are you worrying about the future? Make note of what you see when you think of yourself. Interestingly, 95% of our thoughts are either ruminating about the past or worrying about the future. Only 5% of the time do we truly think and create. 2. Determine what image you want to hold of yourself? What is your true desire? Think about your true desires, the life you want to live, the person you want to be, the health and wealth you want to have. Allow yourself to dream big; let your fantasy lead the way what is your true desire? Expand and enlarge the 5% in which you think and create, make it 6%, 7%, and more. Now that you have this vision, let s move to step #3. 3. Examine the Gap between #1 and #2. Examine your image, thoughts, feelings, and actions of the image you hold of yourself (see #1) and the image of the person you want to be; the success and wellbeing you want to have (see #2). Where is the gap?

5 Write down the gaps in all areas of your life. For example: Money and Wealth #1: I have no money; I am broke. #2: Every month I have more than $10,000 in my bank account. Health and Wellbeing Relationships #1: I have constant pain and feel tired. #2: I am moving free of pain and am full of energy. #1: I am lonely; I will never find my partner. #2: I am married to the partner of my dreams, and he/she is (describe in detail) 4. Close the Gap The following two steps are the key to success in closing the gap. Goal card: It is imperative to use a goal card. Take a small index card or paper and write your goal on it, carry it with you all the time. Write your goal based on the image you want to hold, the specifics you wrote down under step #2. Write your goal in the present tense like you have it already. Remember, your subconscious mind does not know the difference between what you have and what you imagine and sets out the vibration based on what you imagine and put emotion to. Add a date on your goal card and start your goal card with gratitude.

6 GOAL CARD I am so happy and grateful now that I have / I am by , Weekly Actions. Develop and write down Weekly Actions you will do to achieve your Goal. Without actions, your goal will stay a dream. Step by step, you can achieve your goal if you take some action toward it every day. Compare it to a big mountain you want to climb. As long as you keep your focus on the top and take a step at a time, you will be able to climb the mountain and get to the top. It is very powerful to write down your actions for the week and keep them with you all the time. If you want to speed up your success, make this a practice each evening. Write down not only your weekly but also daily actions the night before. Overnight, the universal laws are already at work to help you accomplish your "to do s. For the weekly action plan, focus on five actions: Three actions to move you toward your goal. One wellness-oriented action. You can also add a mental wellness action in addition to the physical wellness action. One action to celebrate and reward yourself.

7 Here is a sample of a weekly action plan. Actions I am taking to accomplish my goal Week Action:... Action:... Action:... Wellness Action:... Celebration:.... Whatever we plant in our subconscious mind and nourish with repetition and emotion will one day become a reality. ~ Earl Nightingale 5. Bring your Goal Card to Life With your Goal Card and Weekly Actions, you are well-prepared for success. The last step is now to bring it all to life. Whatever is deeply imprinted in our subconscious mind and nourished with emotions and repetition will determine our actions and reactions, and therefore our results. When we rethink and relive an unpleasant situation, we will create the same again. Let s use our imagination to create a new and better life. Whatever we give our attention to will grow and the more emotions we add to it, the more it will grow. Interestingly, we all think in pictures; the images create feelings, and the feelings imprint our image on our subconscious mind. Our subconscious mind absorbs information much faster than our conscious mind.

8 To bring our goal, our dream to life, to set the course we want to go, we can amplify our experience by using our five senses. We can create the image; we can see, hear, smell, taste, and touch it and amplify it by adding emotions to it. Use your five senses during your imagination and visualization of your goal and find actual examples to taste and touch. See: Create an image, a picture of yourself, a movie how you want to live. Hear: Record your goal, your dream image and play it over and over, say/ read it aloud. Smell: Enjoy smells related to it, i.e. fresh baked cookies at your new dream home. Taste: Savor the taste of your favorite food at your dream vacation destination. Touch: Enjoy touching the silk and leather of your new stylish wardrobe. I encourage you to enjoy the process, take the time to develop your goal, using these 5 Steps and your five senses to add feelings to it all and bring your Winning Image alive. Forget the past; start now to plant a beautiful self -image, the Winning Image, in your subconscious mind! It is a privilege sharing this information with you.
