Most of the full-time coaches were also in individual sport ( 77,8 %). There were no statistical differences between men.
4 FEMALE COACHES WELL-BEING Harder to manage in working environment Female coaches suffer from burnout and exhaustion more often than men There were no differences between women and men about their experiences of work engagement towards their job (meaning high motivation; dedication, vigor, absorption)
5 GOOD EXAMPLES In track and field (mentoring system) we could raise amount of women atheletes about 20 % In mentoring system (Finnish Coaches): We were able to strenghten coaches interaction skills and feeling of competence. In coaching system (football): we were able to strenghten coaches well-being and manager of work These experiences and knowledge was background in our project of team sports
6 PROJECT IN TEAM SPORTS Objectives: Increase amount of female coaches Try to keep all women in sport Try to find suitable role for each women in sport floorball, football, disability sports, handball, icehockey and ringette Process: every sport had their own meetings (1-2), where they tried to get together all women exathletes (from the level) -> all sport (icehockey, floorball etc) meet together at
7 THE FIRST MEETING - EMPOWERING AND ENGAGING (EX-) TOP ATHLETES Objectives: Engage ex-athletes to sport Point out the knowledge they already have Show that there is a lot, what they can give to sport Content: What kind of path the athletes have followed What did the sport career give? About the story they were telling, we picked up and crystallized their knowledge (and tacit knowledge) about sports: coaching, competition, performance etc
8 WHAT KIND OF CAPITAL DID YOU GET FROM YOUR SPORT CAREER?
9 WHAT DID IT GIVE TO YOU? Mental capital: Stress control skills How to handle different experiences and emotions; dissapointment, frustration, anxiety, fear etc. Self-knowledge: f ex. how to act in different situation Self-regulation: consentration, calm down etc. Assumption of self: beliefs ( I can do, I can manage etc.) Leading skills
10 WHAT DID IT GIVE TO YOU? Social capital: Friendship network Interaction skills Cooperation skills and tolerance to work with very different people Knowledge of team dynamics How to give, take and get feedback Team spirit skills : responsibility, involvement
