Emotionally Focused Therapy EFT EFT with individuals Dr. Yolanda Von Hockauf Per il Progresso nella Pratica e nella Ricerca in Psicoterapia Florence Italy MARch
EFT Do you enjoy using EFT with couples and wonder how to apply this powerful model more effectively with your individual clients? As with couples, we can use the attachment lens to understand individual client presenting issues. We can explore their negative cycles, which create and maintain their emotional distress, reinforcing attachment insecurity. Stage one addresses de-escalation of these cycles; Stage two facilitates a shift out of the client s problematic pattern into new, positive cycles, which create and maintain an emerging sense of felt security with self and other.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES After this workshop, participants will be able to: Use attachment theory to formulate individual client issues; Track negative patterns, both within the client s internal world and his/her interpersonal world; Use the in-session therapeutic process to foster awareness and transform negative life patterns; Understand the value of using emotion as a therapeutic change agent; Apply EFT interventions to facilitate emotional change.
This two day workshop will help you learn to: Use the attachment lens to understand the individual client s presenting issues. Track and reflect the client s issues as a negative cycle, both systemically with their interpersonal relationships and internally with their relationship with self. Work with the client s primary emotions to revise view of self and other. Help client actively shift to a new position based on their core attachment needs. FT These two days will include dynamic theory presentation, demonstration tapes from the trainer, small group exercises, role plays, and... three case presentations from you, the participants!

ATTACHMENT AND THE SELF OF THE THERAPIST March Dr. Yolanda von Hockauf, Registered Marriage and Family Therapist, Certified Trainer in Emotionally Focused Therapy FT This one day workshop will focus on what happens to us as therapists when we work with challenging clients. Combining Attachment Theory and new findings in Neuroscience, we will look at typical responses of the therapists that derail the therapeutic process. Through presentation of theory, examples, and small group discussions, participants can gain a deeper understanding of their own responses and how to find their way back to their therapeutic roadmap. Therapists are encouraged to bring in an example of where they feel stuck with a client. The focus will be on the therapist s process (not the client s). Participants will be supported to share their experience in a safe environment
