Addresses the role of the individual, interpersonal;/relationship, organisational, community and society in preventing and reducing risk of disease. 2. What are the five levels of the sociological model? 1. Individual 2. Interpersonal 3. Organisational 4. Community 5. Societal 6. Draw the sociological model. SOCIETAL COMMUNITY ORGANISATION COMMUNITY INDIVIDUAL 7. Define the sociological model. Conceptual model which outlines how health status of an individual is influence by; attitudes and practices of that individual, their personal relationships, and community & societal factors. 8. Explain the 5 levels of the Sociological model. Individual - Personal choices of individual - Individuals: attitudes, values, beliefs, skills, abilities and decision making.

3 - Impact of biological factors, demographics, personality and emotional intelligence, intentions, will and self control and literacy levels (including health literacy) Interpersonal - Exploration of close relationships. - Family Dynamics, relationship patters, connectedness to family - Ability of individual to interact with others appropriately. Organisational - Explains how an individual works, lives and learns within organisations. - Rules, policies, customs etc will effect health of those within. - Includes: schools, churches, workplaces, community orgs. - Examples bully/harassment policies. Community - Community s context in which organisations conform to their customs and norms. Societal - Examines larger societal factors that influence health behaviour. - Includes: cultural norms, collective attitudes, economic and social policies, justice systems, social welfare, politics. 9. What are multifaceted responses in terms of the ecological model? Unhealthy behaviour is a multifaceted problem with biological, psychological, social and environmental causes. Ecological model serves double purpose: Each level of model represents a level of risk and can also be seen as key point for intervention. 10. List 5 situations in which the social ecological model can be applied. - Child abuse situations - Youth violence

4 - Intimate partner violence (domestic violence) - Abuse of elderly - Drug/ substance abuse. 11. What must be addressed when dealing with behaviour change? - Individual risk factors and steps to modify behaviours - Close personal relationships + providing support for families - Public places (school, work) address problems that may lead to harm or illness - Gender inequality and adverse cultural attitudes and practices. 12.
