3 Purpse f this Trainer and Assessr Guide This Guide is designed t be used as a reference resurce by the trainer/assessr during training and cnducting the assessment. Benchmark slutins fr all f the assessment activities, tgether with guidance fr the assessr n hw t access relevant infrmatin using Internet searching and reference t legislative materials. A mapping summary which shws hw each f the assessment tasks relate t the unit requirements. The Assessment Task Wrkbk The Assessment Task Wrkbk is fr the candidate. It cntains: Instructins fr the candidate abut the unit assessment requirements A verificatin frm fr the candidate t cnfirm that they have received and understd the assessment prcess and their right f appeal All f the assessment tasks Space fr the assessr t give feedback t the candidate and t cnfirm whether the task was satisfactry A cpy f the mapping summary in the Trainer/Assessr Guide. Final assessment frm, fr signing ff by the assessr and the candidate Assessr qualificatins Assessrs must satisfy NVR/AQTF assessr requirements. Yu (the assessr) shuld ensure that yu: have the necessary training and assessment cmpetencies as determined by the Natinal Skills Standards Cuncil r its successrs; (TAE40110 r its successrs) have the relevant vcatinal cmpetencies at least t the level being delivered r assessed; (hld this unit r have mapped yur cmpetencies t the unit and this has been apprved by the RTO authrised fficer). can demnstrate current industry skills directly relevant t the training/assessment being undertaken; and cntinue t develp yur vcatinal educatin and training (VET) knwledge and skills as well as yur industry currency and trainer/assessr cmpetence. Adherence t the benchmarks In rder t ensure that the assessment prcess and utcme meets the principles f assessment and the rules f evidence, it is ESSENTIAL that yu adhere t the benchmarks fr assessment utlined in this Guide. 4 The benchmark slutins and infrmatin in this Guide are current as at the date shwn in the fter. Statutry authrity web sites and legislatin may change. Yu, the trainer/assessr, will need t maintain currency. Reasnable Adjustment If the candidate has special needs which require reasnable adjustments, then yu, the assessr, must ensure that yu have: Reviewed the unit requirements and determined that adjustments will nt cmprmise the utcme. Determined the adjustments t be made, in cnsultatin with the candidate and, if necessary, a specialist. Clearly dcumented the adjustments made as part f the assessment recrd, in sufficient detail t enable anther qualified assessr t make a judgement f cmpetency. Ensured that yu prtect the candidate s right t privacy and cnfidentiality in relatin t any persnal infrmatin such as medical cnditins, and where persnal infrmatin needs t be recrded, gained the candidate s cnsent in writing. Recgnitin f Prir Learning and Credit Transfer If the candidate currently hlds qualificatins r has relevant experience fr this unit, then they must be ffered the pprtunity fr RPL and nt be required t undertake a full learning and assessment pathway. Applicatin This unit cvers the develpment and use f emtinal intelligence t increase selfawareness, self-management, scial awareness and relatinship management in the cntext f the wrkplace. It includes identifying the impact f wn emtins n thers in the wrkplace, recgnising and appreciating the emtinal strengths and weaknesses f thers, prmting the develpment f emtinal intelligence in thers and utilising emtinal intelligence t maximise team utcmes. It applies t managers wh identify, analyse, synthesise and act n infrmatin frm a range f surces and wh deal with unpredictable prblems. They use initiative and judgement t rganise the wrk f self and thers and plan, evaluate and c-rdinate the wrk f teams. N licensing, legislative r certificatin requirements apply t this unit at the time f publicatin. 7 Assessment Task 1 This task requires yu t identify yur wn emtinal strengths and weaknesses. Read the fllwing infrmatin Emtinal Intelligence links strngly with Hward Gardner s Multiple Intelligence Thery which illustrates and measures the range f capabilities peple pssess, and the fact that everybdy has a value. It was first published in Hward Gardner's bk, Frames Of Mind (1983), and quickly became established as a mdel by which t understand many aspects f human intelligence, learning style, persnality and behaviur. On the fllwing page is a descriptin f Gardner s Multiple Intelligences. Read the descriptin f Multiple Intelligences. Create a Wrd dcument with the filename BSBLDR501 Assessment 1. Type yur name in the header and the date in the fter f the dcument. The spreadsheet (r ther dcument) must be submitted in evidence. The Wrd dcument shuld cntain a minimum f ne paragraph which discusses their scre in relatin t interpersnal and intrapersnal intelligence types. The candidate shuld lcate and cmplete 3 Emtinal Intelligence tests. They shuld identify the URL f each test. Yu shuld access each link t ensure that it exists. The candidate shuld type at least ne paragraph identifying their EI strengths and a further paragraph identifying EI areas fr imprvement and strategies fr imprvement which may include reflectin, seeking feedback, bservatin f reactins f thers. Nte that this task cannt be benchmarked. It may be that the candidate is happy with the way that they cntrlled their emtinal respnse. In either case, they shuld prvide an explanatin f why?. Their explanatin shuld demnstrate that the candidate is aware f the impact f their wn emtins n thers particularly when they are a team manager and a rle mdel.
