1 PHYSICAL EDUCATION 6-8 Physical Educatin is an integral and vital part f the general educatin prgram that significantly cntributes t the ttal grwth and develpment f each student, primarily thrugh mvement experiences. It is unique because it prvides a balance f activities that reflect and challenge the diverse needs f students in the psychmtr, cgnitive and affective dmains. The physical educatin prgram at the middle schl level is designed t prvide students with a wide variety f activities including lifetime/leisure, individual and team sprts, physical fitness and Prject Adventure. The main fcus is t develp fitness and t encurage physical activity nt nly during physical educatin class, but as an integral part f a healthy lifestyle. The prgram aims t educate students t be healthy and active thrughut their lives. At the middle schl level, thrugh an expsure apprach, students are prvided the pprtunity t enhance their physical, emtinal, intellectual and scial grwth. The sequential nature f the K-12 curriculum allws the middle schl t fster a unique transitin between elementary and high schl physical educatin.
