2 At the Salomons Centre for Applied Psychology, we have offered a coherent package of CBT programmes for 10 years. With our Postgraduate Diploma we seek to train fully competent and BABCP-accreditable CBT practitioners, equipped to help clients in IAPT services or elsewhere, using the most effective therapeutic tools at our disposal for the treatment of anxiety disorders and depression. Furthermore, our self-practice module teaches practical skills for those working in today s challenging healthcare context to notice and respond to their own emotional and psychological needs. Our Masters programme offers graduates of the Postgraduate Diploma knowledge and skills in practice-based research and evaluation, either enabling them to meet specific service needs, or to pursue more specialist avenues that will expand CBT knowledge. 3 Postgraduate Programmes in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy We offer programmes related to Psychological Therapy, including a Level 2 BABCP Accredited Postgraduate Diploma in Psychological Therapies: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (High Intensity) and a Masters in Psychological Therapies: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. The Postgraduate Diploma enables graduates to practise as accredited CBT therapists and was designed for High Intensity trainees in IAPT services. The MSc allows graduates of the PG Diploma to further their interest in CBT with a research-based qualification.

The programme is staffed by a team of highly experienced academics and practitioners who take a problem-based approach and use a variety of research methods. 5 The Programmes Postgraduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (High Intensity) offers an excellent programme of study across a mix of classroom learning, problem based learning, clinical supervision and intensive skills workshops. The six modules of our BABCP Accredited course provide you with the aptitude, skills and competencies to practise as Cognitive Behavioural Therapists. You will gain the expertise for assessing and treating patients with a range of anxiety and depressive disorders. The aim of the programme is that on successful completion you will have met the minimum training standards for provisional accreditation with the BABCP, the accrediting body for CBT therapists in the United Kingdom. Masters in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy will allow you to further your studies with a research based qualification. This programme is intended to develop your expertise as CBT practitioners, supervisors or trainers through your involvement in the design, implementation and write-up of a practice-based clinical research project. This MSc will develop research skills which practitioners may employ in their services, and which may also serve as preparation for subsequent doctoral study. Increasingly, research and evaluation is an expected component of mental health services to assess outcome and effectiveness. Information management, evaluation planning, ethical decision making, data collection, analysis and dissemination all share a role in the process of research, and these 18 months are designed to develop your skills in each of these areas.

6 Salomons Centre for Applied Psychology Admissions process for Postgraduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (HIGH INTENSITY) ENTRY REQUIREMENTS Applicants for the Postgraduate Diploma in Psychological Therapies: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (High Intensity) should normally have the following: > A good honours degree in any subject OR Provide evidence of ability to study successfully at Postgraduate level. > Work in an environment that enables them to offer high intensity interventions for depression and anxiety disorders using Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, with access to clinical supervision by a BABCP accredited CBT Therapist and evidence that they will conduct at least 200 hours of CBT practice during the course. PLUS ONE OF THE FOLLOWING: OPTION 1 OPTION 2 A professional qualification recognised as a Core Profession by BABCP such as Mental Health Nursing, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or BACP accredited Counselling. A full list of recognised Core Professions is available at Demonstrate, through our Knowledge Skills and Attitudes (KSA) application, that they have the required core training and competence for the delivery of a psychological therapy within an ethical framework.

7 Admissions process for Masters in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Applicants require a Post Graduate Diploma in Psychological Therapies: Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, generally at Merit level. This may be from Canterbury Christ Church University, or from another institution, from which credits can be transferred subject to University Accreditation of Prior Learning requirements.
