No part of this guide may be copied or reproduced in any form including but not limited to electronic, and photographic without the express written permission of the author.
The Practical Kinesic Interview & Interrogation Pocket Guide: 2 nd Edition is designed for use by interviewers and interrogators who have participated in Practical Kinesic Interview & Interrogation courses. Attendance in at least course Levels 1 and 2 is highly recommended before attempting to use this guide as a resource tool. The author makes no warranties or guarantees against misuse or improper use of this guide. It is designed solely as a quick reference resource to assist Practical Kinesic Interview & interrogation technique trained interviewers and interrogators who are trying to obtain the maximum information from subjects, determine truthful and deceptive behaviors, personality behavior type and defining interrogation strategies. Strict adherence to the PRACTICAL KINESIC PRINCIPLES defined in SECTION ONE is designed to reduce the possibility of misdiagnosis. i
INSTRUCTIONS The most important aspect in the use of Practical Kinesic Interview and Interrogation is to adhere as strictly as possible to all the PRACTICAL KINESIC PRINCIPLES discussed in SECTION ONE. Conduct a NARRATIVE-BASED INTERVIEW of your subject as described in SECTION TWO. Your primary objective is first to glean as much information as possible from your subject. Diagnose the subject s truthful and deceptive behaviors by analyzing VERBAL and NON- VERBAL cues. First, locate the specific VERBAL CUES from SECTION THREE and the NON- VERBAL CUES from SECTION FOUR and match them with REACTION / RSPONSE BEHAVIORS listed in SECTION FIVE. These cluster areas are the points or topics on which you want to focus during the interrogation. ii
Determine the subject s PERSONALITY BEHAVIOR TYPE by answering the questions in the quick analysis charts from the beginning of SECTION SIX. Interview or interrogate the subject on each of the target areas using the interrogation tactics and overall strategy reminders for each PERSONALITY BEHAVIOR TYPE noted in the later portion of SECTION SIX. Make minor adjustments to your approach based on the subject s REACTION / RESPONSE using the tactics noted in SECTION FIVE. Constantly monitor the subject s REACTION / RESPONSE BEHAVIORS and watch for VERBAL and NON-VERBAL RESPONSE CUES of compliance, cooperation or acceptance. iii
Secure the subject s statement, admission or confession using the strategy outlined for the interviewer / interrogator s response to acceptance repeated at the end of SECTIONS THREE thru FIVE. SECTION SIX contains a list of EXPLORATORY DIALOGUE questions that can be used at any point in the interview or interrogation. They may be used to diagnose possible stress regarding an issue. They may be used to help identify new dialogue approaches or avenues of discussion toward acceptance during interrogation. REMEMBER: No statement is valid without CORROBORATION from evidence, crime scene, witness statements, victim statements or any subject. iv
