1 CaliforniaVolunteers My name is Leah Farkas and I am the lead researcher working on a project aimed at measuring volunteerism inside the California state-run prison system. The project is funded with federal grant money through CaliforniaVolunteers, Office of the Governor. I am looking for several student volunteers to help me with data entry over the next month or so. The work will be completed at the CaliforniaVolunteers office located in downtown Sacramento across from the Capitol. We are asking for a 6 hour minimum commitment from each student volunteer to be completed in one or two sessions. There is also an opportunity for up to 40 hours of volunteering per student. Please note that volunteers will need to fill out and sign some standard paperwork at the beginning of their first shift. Volunteer shifts open April 1st and will run through at least the end of April with additional possible opportunities in May depending on work load. Research Assistants Sought for Study on Depression Treatment The Golden Bear Sleep and Mood Research Clinic (GBSMRC), headed by Dr. Allison Harvey, is looking for undergraduate research assistants (RAs) who are available to start immediately. Preference will be placed on candidates who would be able to work during the summer, although RAs are needed for Spring and Fall 2017 as well. We are currently conducting a study on improving cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for depression. All RAs will be required to devote a minimum of 5 hours per month for recruitment; RAs must be responsible and willing to travel. RAs will also have the opportunity to engage in additional tasks, including but not limited to data entry; editing, encrypting, and uploading recordings treatment sessions; preparing equipment used in therapy and assessments; conducting assessments with participants; and greeting participants. RAs would be expected to volunteer for at least 10 hours a week. We are looking for students of any year and level of experience who are organized, punctual, professional, and responsible. Idiographic Dynamics Lab: Lab Manager Position Idiographic Dynamics Lab Aaron Fisher, PhD University of California, Berkeley Psychology Department Job Title: Lab Manager (unpaid) Hours per week: Flexible, hours on weekdays Preferred: One-year commitment Job Summary: The broad goal of the Idiographic Dynamics (ID) lab is to understand psychopathology as a set of dynamic processes in which thoughts, feelings, and actions are idiosyncratically organized within each individual. As a lab manager in the ID Lab, you would work closely with Dr. Aaron Fisher to coordinate research studies and oversee day-to-day operations of the lab. This position is ideal for (although not restricted to) any recent or impending college graduates with clinical psychology research experience who intend to apply to related graduate programs in the future. Goal of the Project: The proposed research plans in investigate ways to improve Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for Major Depressive Disorder(MDD). Student s Role: Students may perform duties in several of the positions within the research study, descriptions of which are included below. Students must be able to commit to around

4 10 hours of work per week for a minimum of one school year. Some weeks will be lighter than others, but having the flexibility to work 10 hours a week is required. RA responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 1. Study Recruitment: All RAs will be required to devote a minimum of 5 hours per month for recruitment. RAs would be asked to flyering in different places across the Bay Area. RAs must be responsible and willing to travel for recruitment efforts. Commuter students are especially encouraged to apply! 2. Pre-Session Prep: RAs may be asked to greet clients and walk them to the clinic, as well as restocking therapy rooms before assessments and/or treatment sessions. They may also have the opportunity to gain training to administer certain questionnaires and assessments during treatment. 3. Post-Session Close-Out: Recording Crew: RAs would be responsible for downloading and editing video and audio recordings of therapy sessions, ensuring they are encrypted, and uploading recordings in a timely manner. These RAs also ensure the recording equipment is properly set-up prior to sessions. No prior technical experienceis required, as you will be fully trained. Mentor s Contribution: Students are extensively trained and supervised by Project Coordinators. All student activities during the semester are overseen by an in-person or oncall supervisor. All of the research assistants who work in this lab will receive access to career counseling and support from the P.I., graduate students, and staff, and a basic understanding of how research is implemented, from grant to practice. Recruiting Coders for Psychology Research I am a clinical psychology graduate student at the Wright Institute in Berkeley, CA, pursuing my Psy.D under the guidance of my dissertation chair, Dr. Lauren Shapiro (Lshaprio@wi.ed). I am looking for one or two volunteers to help me with my research exploring resilience in offspring of those with Bipolar disorder (OBD) in dealing with the challenges they have faced with their parent s Bipolar Disorder, and how they understand what has contributed to their resilience. Through these interviews I am hoping to better understand the lived experiences of OBD and to provide this information to fellow clinicians to improve therapy outcomes and promote resilience.
