1 MGPR Training Curses Guide fiscal cde Descriptin The training prgram supprted by MGPR is prpsed by a grup f excellent mentrs/educatrs, accmplished in Pesticides Management and Analysis, and Fd and Envirnmental Quality and Safety Research, wh wrk cllabratively t ffer a research training prgram f defined frmat and cntent t a grup f trainees, at the level f graduate and pstdctral studies, althugh ther training cmpnents are pssible. The training prgrams are intended t imprve the mentring and training f Pesticides, and Fd and Envirnmental Quality and Safety researchers in the Mediterranean Area, fster cllabrative, team research acrss disciplines and integrate training knwledge translatin and prfessinal skills such as cmmunicatin, teamwrk, prject management and leadership. The training prgrams are anticipated t be an imprtant surce f Mediterranean Area next generatin f Pesticide Management and analysis, Fd and Envirnmental Quality and Safety research leaders and creative agents fr change. 2. Objectives The verall mandate f the MGPR Training Curses in Pesticides Management and Analysis, Fd and Envirnmental Quality and Safety Research is t increase the capacity f the Mediterranean Area research cmmunity t prduce high-quality graduates capable f addressing majr Pesticide Management and Analysis, Fd and Envirnmental Quality and Safety issues and/r research challenges. The bjectives f Training Curses are t: 1. Supprt the develpment f training prgrams that imprve the mentring and training envirnment fr Pesticides, and Fd and Envirnmental Quality and Safety researchers. The training prgrams shuld raise the standards fr best practices in the mentring and training f researchers. They shuld be innvative, effective, and internatinally cmpetitive.

Supprt the develpment f cllabrative, team research by bringing researchers tgether frm different disciplines t address majr Pesticides management, and Fd and Envirnmental Quality and Safety issues and/r research challenges. The training prgrams shuld prvide deep knwledge and technical skills in a chsen discipline and develp an ability t wrk cllabratively with clleagues in ther disciplines and prfessins. 3. Supprt the develpment f well-runded Pesticides, and Fd and Envirnmental Quality and Safety researchers by integrating training n: a. the ethical cnduct f research and related ethical issues; b. knwledge translatin; and c. prfessinal skills such as cmmunicatin, teamwrk, prject management, leadership, grant writing and peer review. 3. Eligibility Criteria Specific Eligibility Requirements The fllwing special cnditins apply: 1. Training Curses under MGPR supervisin, must invlve at least tw mentrs (cnsidered t be independent investigatrs and at least at the c-applicant level f cmmitment). 2. Training Curses may invlve mentrs in mre than ne institutin frm different Cuntries. Such institutinal cllabratin is encuraged in rder t facilitate cllabrative training pprtunities with grups that have a track recrd f high quality and prductive research cllabratins, and excellence in research training. In such cases, the institutin f the Prgram Leader will be regarded as the hst institutin. Althugh institutinal cllabratin is encuraged, it is nt necessary t have applicants frm mre than ne institutin. 3. Training Curses must include ne r mre f the fllwing training cmpnents: Intrducing undergraduate and prfessinal students t Fd and Envirnmental Quality and Safety Research. Prviding pst-dctral research training. Offering additinal pstgraduate research training experiences f nt less than ne mnth t Pesticides, and Fd and Envirnmental Quality and Safety prfessinals, researchers r academics at any stage in their

3 careers (fr example, faculty training/retraining). Nte that these individuals must take a leave f absence frm their psitin in rder t be cnsidered a trainee during this perid. 4. Training prgrams shuld nrmally prvide full time research training. 5. In rder t supprt the develpment f well-runded individuals in the next generatin f Pesticides, and Fd and Envirnmental Quality and Safety researchers, training prgrams must integrate training n: the ethical cnduct f research and related ethical issues; knwledge translatin; prfessinal skills such as cmmunicatin, teamwrk, prject management, leadership, teaching and mentring. 6. Cuntries utside the Mediterranean Area are welcme in hsting researchers and prpsing Training curses, mrever researchers frm freigners cuntries can participate in the training curses with the cnditins previusly reprted. One f the tw mentrs requested shuld be in a Mediterranean Cuntry. 4. Review Prcess and Evaluatin Criteria A type f merit review will be utilized where experts in educatin and training may be included as members f the review cmmittees. Merit review cmmittees rganized by MGPR will evaluate the letters f intent and full applicatins. Cmmittee members are selected based n suggestins frm MGPR Office f the President. Overall, it is critical t demnstrate the training prgram's excellence and that it brings added value. 5. Training csts and applicatins MGPR des nt supprt csts fr the training curses. 1. Travel expenses, accmmdatin and meals are charged t the researcher. 2. Labratry csts are charged t the hst institutin. The applicatin is a ne-step prcess that includes the cmpilatin f the fllwing frmats: Annex 1 Letter f Intent, Annex 2 Prject Descriptin, Annex 3 Curriculum Vitae, Annex 4 Hst Institutin letter.
