The rapid advances in the science and technology associated with this specialty makes it challenging for the busy practitioner to stay up-to-date. This educational program will provide practical, evidence-based information regarding the diagnosis, evaluation, and management of critically important neurological disorders. TARGET AUDIENCE AND OBJECTIVES This activity is designed for specialists in neurology. At the conclusion of the activity, participants should be able to: Perform an accurate brain death assessment based on the 2010 American Academy of Neurology (AAN) guideline update. Institute general protective and acute therapeutic measures to reduce the intracranial pressure (ICP) in patients with acute brain injury at risk for further neurological deterioration. Develop an approach to the treatment of relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis in light of the new therapeutic agents available. Identify appropriate patients who need to be referred to a comprehensive stroke center for further evaluation and treatment such as endovascular therapy. Describe and discuss the changes to expect in daily practice in neurology as a consequence of the 2010 national health reform legislation.

ACCREDITATION/credit DESIGNATION Baylor College of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Baylor College of Medicine designates this educational activity for a maximum of AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.
