2 What is ProGrESS PCS? ProGrESS PCS is a new program developed by the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) to assist established palliative care programs to thrive and expand. UCSF s expert multidisciplinary faculty have successfully trained over 100 US hospitals in the fundamentals of launching a hospital-based palliative care program through the Palliative Care Leadership Centers SM (PCLC) program. ProGrESS PCS is a 2-day seminar during which teams or individual members of established palliative care programs will learn the skills necessary to successfully manage the challenges of sustaining and expanding a palliative care service. Who should attend? Physicians, nurses, social workers, finance managers, administrators, chaplains and other health care professionals responsible for leading and managing a hospital based palliative care program.

Individualized, small group sessions will allow hands-on learning and interaction with faculty and attendees: Financial Analyses for Hospital-based Palliative Care Understand and use analyses appropriate to the scope and goals of your palliative care program. Using Data to Sustain & Grow your Palliative Care Program Learn how to collect, manage, and analyze various data to sustain or expand your palliative care program. Self Care for Palliative Care Clinicians Learn how to prevent burnout with effective coping techniques, wellness strategies, and exercises to promote self care. Patient/Family Communication: Basics to Best Practices Learn and practice skills and strategies to improve communication with patients and families. Strategies to Manage Growth Develop strategies to manage program growth, whether planned or unexpected. Maximizing Team Performance Learn strategies and practice techniques to improve team functioning and promote effective team development. Seeking Philanthropic Support Learn how to approach potential donors and organizations to secure philanthropic funding for your program. Leading From Where You Are Learn Strategies to enhance your ability to lead and work with others. 5 Schedule The Conference will begin at 9 am on October 1 and the last session will conclude at 4:45 pm on October 2. REGISTRATION INFORMATION Conference Registration Register online to attend the ProGrESS PCS conference by visiting and clicking on the link to register. Each attendee must complete a registration form. The registration cost is $500 per person. Registration fees are waived for participants from California county hospitals. If you are from a California county hospital, please call (415) Registration deadline is Friday, September 25, Location Hotel Kabuki, 1625 Post Street, San Francisco, CA The newly renovated Hotel Kabuki is located in San Francisco s Japantown, near the Golden Gate Bridge, Chinatown, and cable cars, and is less than 30 minutes from San Francisco International Airport. Hotel Reservation A limited block of rooms has been reserved at the Hotel Kabuki for Thursday, October 1 and Friday, October 2. The discounted group room rate is $139 per night, standard room, single or double occupancy, plus taxes. Once the room block is full, higher rates may apply.
