The colon is a complex and multifunctional organ as well as the cause and the target of both functional and organic disorders that require an increased need of medical resources. The meeting will attempt to bring scientists and clinicians together to discuss a somewhat-neglected organ an organ that has been well-studied by researchers but whose disorders are not often discussed. Speakers are asked to prepare discussions on their research that are tailored to an audience primarily made up of clinicians. The meeting s aim is to encourage better diagnosis and treatment of patients with colonic diseases. Congenital abnormalities, motility disorders, colonic inflammatory diseases, features of colonic infection and inhabitation, and new approaches to evaluating the colon, including evaluation in the pre- and postoperative settings will be discussed along with other current topics.
