2 GOALS & OBJECTIVES Why You Should Attend: CVI s 8th Annual EP/Arrhythmia Management Update focuses on updates in electrophysiology of which everyone in clinical practice should be aware to provide outstanding care and improve outcomes for patients with arrhythmias and various electrophysiologic syndromes. Our program focuses on: Indications for A Fib Ablation CABANA & CASTLE Trials; CV Implications of A Fib Monitoring: iwatch to Loop Recorder; Oral Anticoagulation Who Gets which Drug and Why; CV Significance of Sleep Apnea; How to Get an MRI for Patients with ICDs; Wearable Cardiac Defibrillators; and Left Atrial Appendage Closure. Our program also includes several sections of ECG Pearls on Tachycardia and ST Segment Elevation; as well as Case Presentations on CVD and Sleep Apnea. Our final session includes a free CVI EP BINGO! session offering more than $1,000 in prizes, including an Apple iwatch (must be present at conclusion to win!) Our agenda also offers physicians the opportunity to receive up to 6.75 MOC Points from the ABIM.** Awarding of MOC points requires additional attestation, post program evaluation and test questions. Target Audience: Cardiologists, electrophysiologists, primary care, emergency, family practice, internal and geriatric medicine physicians, fellows, residents, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, EP Lab staff and certified medical assistants who participate in the care of patients with arrhythmias, cardiac rhythm disorders and cardiovascular disease. Learning Objectives: After attending CVI s 8th Annual New Paradigms in Arrhythmia Management CME program, attendees will be better able to: Identify patient subsets who may benefit from ablative procedures Effectively communicate the value of ablative therapy to patients with congestive heart failure Discuss the role of currently available technologies in the monitoring of atrial fibrillation Consider the best monitoring system for each clinical scenario Prescribe the optimal anticoagulant agent and dose for individual patients Identify patients who are not appropriate candidates for direct oral anticoagulant therapy Identify patients who are at risk for obstructive or central sleep apnea Explain newer therapeutic options for patients with sleep apnea Recognize that the presence of a CIED does not preclude use of an MRI in most patients Describe the steps necessary to ensure a safe MRI in the presence of a CIED More appropriately prescribe wearable cardiac defibrillators for patients at high risk of sudden cardiac death Recognize the practical limitations and difficulties related to wearing an external defibrillator Identify causes of ST Segment Elevation Prescribe appropriate treatment for ST Elevation Syndromes Better identify patients who may benefit from left atrial appendage closure Recognize the potential complications of left atrial appendage occlusion and better strategize how to avoid or manage them if necessary Accreditation Statement: This event has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Pennsylvania Medical Society through the joint providership of the Einstein Medical Center and Cardiovascular Institute of Philadelphia.
