2 Clinical Update in Gastroenterology Target Audience The program has been designed to provide physicians and nurses in gastroenterology, internal medicine, family practice, and primary care specialties with up-to-date, practical information on the latest treatments in the field of Gastroenterology. Join us for state-of-the-art didactic presentations, useful treatment guides, and case-based interactive panels which promise a lively and informative educational experience. Educational Objectives Upon completion of the course, participants should be able to: Identify new diagnostic and treatment options in gastroenterology Explain genetic testing and the value relative to gastrointestinal diseases Recognize patients who would benefit from PPI therapy and the potential side effects. Discuss current trends in hepatitis A, B and C. Summarize new treatment options for ulcerative colitis, Crohn s Disease and Irritable Bowel Disease. Differentiate severe diarrhea from mild and determine appropriate treatment modalities. Describe risk factors and surgical options for the patient with obesity issues. Identify new approaches to chronic sequalae of liver disease. Propose a treatment strategy for patients with malabsorption disorders and celiac disease. Discuss case studies to improve the delivery of care to patients with gastrointestinal disease.
